dat aint fair cant bring in cellphones 2 scool in grades 1-6

Some of you are pathetic...claiming that your second grade daughter would be aware enough to make the proper phone call in a real emegency is rediculous. If someone was to take you captive at 40 you would be too nervous to know what to do. Your arguements are pathetic, and if there was a real emegency the landline in the main office of the school would sufice just as it did for you and me while we attended public school.

i think this rule is totaly UNCALLED FOR! they cant tell us what to do with our stuff. i went want to listen to music after we finished a test we should. if we finished the test early enough that means that we studied so we deserve to listen to what ever we want!

all this talk about cheating of i pods, hat and cell phones. Teachers, lets think if you have something taken away from you, you find a replacement. so if you take away their i pods cells phones and all that they will find new ways to cheat.

people pay LOTS of good money to go to certain schools and they pay all the money for what? overpriced lunch? bad chalkboards? and no fun!

THIS RULE ISNT A GOOD ONE!

and has anyone heard the expression BETTER SFAE THAN SORRY! ?

Cell phones are a necessity in this day and age. As a college student, I have mine on 24-7. But even in college, there are rules you must abide by. Last fall I had a great teacher that had the best rules for cell phones. His rule was "if it rings at any point during a test, or if it is seen anywhere other than on the 'phone desk' in the front of the classroom, you turn in your test as is and it is graded as is." If a cell phone even vibrated in his class, especially during a test, this rule was strictly enforced. After several students turned their tests in partially completed, we all got the hint.

In the college of nursing, as with several other classes that I have taken, we have to put our backpacks against the walls during test time. The only thing we can walk to our desks with is our scantron (computerized test sheets) and our pencils. The women cannot even bring their purses with them to their desks. This is a concrete rule. No if's, and's, or but's about it. If you don't like it, tough.

My mother is a school teacher who has, on several occasions, comes home complaining of cell phones going off in her classroom, among other broken policies. There are reasons why these rules are set in place. It's not to put your child in danger. It's to prevent distractions and cheating, among other things. Recently, there was a fight at her school over one kid posting things on-line and texting things on his phone, some of which from what I understand was done at school. The victim of this incident one day got fed up with it and struck the other student, and is now facing felony charges. Please explain the justice in this to me. Not all, but some of this would have been prevented if it were not for pictures and information being sent via "the must have life essential" we call a cell phone.

If there is a ban of cell phones, so be it. Personally, I think it's warranted due to the honesty, integrity, and decency some of our children lack. It would be, in my opinion, a good rule to add to the list of technological advances that some people's children abuse.

If there is not a complete outright ban, there at least needs to be some restrictions.

1. Putting all backpacks and purses in the front of the classroom or along the walls of the room during testing periods works for college students. Why won't it work for high school, other than it'll give another reason to complain about something else.

2. There needs to also be a restriction during school times, like "DO NOT USE DURING SCHOOL HOURS" due to the distractions they cause.

3. If there is an emergency, like the building is on fire or there is someone with a gun on grounds, that's why those little red fire alarms are all over school. It automatically relays to the police and fire departments that there is some sort of an emergency at the school. Teach the students how to use it and what it's for. Put consequences on those who use them for the wrong reasons.

4. For those who have made lewd comments on their office staff, you are right in one area, they are extremely overworked and underpaid. But it is their job to give you your right to call your parents. There is at least one phone in any given school office whose sole purpose is to be used by students to call their parents for certain reasons. No, I don't feel it should be any of the office staff's business why you call home (periods, seizures, anal warts bleeding, etc.) because some things ARE protected under doctor patient confidentiality. But there should at least be a log next to the phone for who calls what numbers that can at any time be verified. And if need be, put a video camera up to identify abusers of this priviledge.

5. If cell phones are absolutely necessary, i.e. for students who walk to school, students that stay late for practices, etc., leave them in your lockers (middle and high school), boxes (middle and elementary ... why do these children have cell phones?) sports bags, check them into the office, or talk to a trusted teacher about leaving it in their care.

6. If all else fails, there's a reason why manufacturers make every single phone with a silent option. Just make yourself an alarm (that also comes standard on all phones) that's set before school to remind you to turn it to silent. Trust me, you won't forget to turn the sound back on after school if you're that much of an avid cell phone user.

Okay, all you people that are so stuck on the idea that cell phones are bad for students and cause distractions and all that other crap, let it go, DEAL WITH IT!!!! Students are going to use them whether you say they are banned or not. We are TEENAGERS we don't listen to you! Why should we? I agree with the student that said the situation with 911 and that the guy holding you at gunpoint is going to allow you to call on the SCHOOL PHONE! If 20 or so students in the room all have a cell phone, any threatening situation can be called in with no problem. Cell phones can be used in situations like 9/11, Columbine, and other tragic situations to reach loved ones in times of great need. Face it, cell phones are conveniant! Would you really want to take that from us? How many PEOPLE (not just teenagers) don't have cell phones??? I am a junior and I have had my cell phone taken 3 times since 7th grade and every time has been in a situation of no concern. 2 of the 3 times I was texting my mom about ride information and the other I simply pulled out my phone to check the time. Teachers have no right to take our stuff just because it's "DISTRACTING" them. Would it be okay to walk in a bank and have the clerk take your cell phone because it distracted them from their work? Of course not, that's ridiculous! We all know how many times our phone would be taken when it distracted someone, EVERYDAY! We can't control when people call us. If a student's cell phone rings in class it's the student's fault for not putting it on vibrate or silent. In that situation the phone should be either told to be put away or turned off or even placed in the teacher's safe care until the end of the period. (OUR PARENTS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO COME GET OUR CELL PHONES FROM THE OFFICE WHEN IT'S NOT CAUSING A PROBLEM!!) If a kid is organizing a drug deal over a cell phone then that problem should be dealt with, but (believe it, or not) not all students do drug deals. If a student is irresponsible, disrespectful and stupid enough to make a drug deal, show inappropriate photos or cheat on a test, then they don't deserve a cell phone!! You can't ban something from EVERYONE because a few select students abuse it. This issue is absurd & shouldn't even be considered! Banning cell phones... Honestly???

I'm in Korea.
Our school allows kids to take cell phones to school, except for when we take test for going into college. It's not LSATs so,..
I am a primary school kid. I personall think there is a good enough reason for taking cell phones to school. I once got lost in the neighborhood I was unfamiliar with, but since I had my cell phone, I could contact with my mom. For safety reasons, because a child's safety is important for any parents, whatever it will take, I think cell phone should not be banned.

Amanda

heyy well i kinda agrue with this cell phone do cause us kids to not do our school work but i don't think you should ban them i think you should just let us have them in our pockets it not doning any harm there and yes when is vibrates it does bug me and i havr to take it out of my pocket and see who it is but i i don't think u should ban them i'm in 9th grade and i go to a school in utah and in my school i think they are to stricket on the cell phone thing my phone has been taken away 3 time and 2 of the times cuz it was in my fliping pocket and it made me really mad cuz i was not doing anything wrong i was just walking down the hall and they stop me evey time cuz i wear tight pants and i wear dark make up around my eyes don't mean i'm bad and i bet if they looked in every one of the other students pockets thy would find a cell phone or a i pod or maybe even both well thats what i think so yeah

Do you have a viable business but lack the necessary finances to get it off it’s feet?

Live Answering Service

Well, I think as far as teachers go using cell phones same policy applies.
