Hi, my name is James Dodd.
November is best known as the month we all celebrate Thanksgiving. But first, it's a time to honor our veterans.
This year it is my pleasure to tell you that the City of Lake Charles will honor the Third Battalion, 156th Infantry Regiment this Veterans Day, November 10th. They are our local National Guard unit. Please join me in letting these men and women know we appreciate the role they have played in the war effort and so many natural disasters including hurricanes Rita and Katrina.
However you feel about the war in the Middle East, let's remember the personal sacrifices made each day by our local service personnel and their families. I for one thank God each day for the men and women who choose to wear the uniform. When that uniform is on, a transformation takes place. The serviceperson at once understands the meaning of honor, duty, commitment and country. They and their families do not question why; they know why they have made the choice to serve.
Please mark Veterans Day, November 10th, on your calendar. Fly your American flag high. And please join us at 10am at Veterans Park on the lake for our annual ceremony of honor.
Let's show our brave young men and women that our gratitude and support follow them wherever they go.
Thank you and God Bless America.

This was an awesome hot button topic and a great reminder. I do have a question though - isn't Veterans' Day November 11th? (I always remember Veterans' Day because my grandfather's birthday is November 11th, and he served in the Navy, so we've always made a big deal out of both his birthday and Veterans' Day at the same time.) The hot button stated Veterans' Day was November 10th, but maybe he meant to say the celebration was the 10th. Thanks for posting this topic!!!
