You Know I sit here and watch T.V. I see police going aftre people wanting a little sex. The stupid thing is they should be going after those selling drugs and pills on the street and in the bars at night.a little prepaied sex never got kids hooked on drugs.

Frog

well since I do operations for the CPSO, I don't think it is stupid...its pretty sad when you see fathers and grandfathers wanting to pick you up for a "good time" cause you know that they will have to go home to their children and wife. That stays with you for the rest of your life and even longer emotionaly for your family. It's NOT pointless and its not a waste of time! whoever thinks that it is such, must be quilty themselves...

Thanks Lee, your a great guy!!!
*hugs*

This is no bigger surprise than seeing a report that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

Prostitution is an abomination to God. But...it has been so from the first and will be till the last. Laws have never stopped it.....never will... You cannot legislate morality....

Not that it is right...but Mexico understands this fact. Every border town has its own "Boys Town". They control prostitution in these compounds and laws are strictly enforced by federal police. The prostitutes are examined twice (2 times) every week. Mexico reaps the rewards. The prostitutes get "almost nothing" for their "contribution"....but everybody is happy...

You will never see a sting, in any Mexico city as you saw on the local news. Prostitution does not happen outside of these Boys Town in Mexico...

My question is how can prostitution be legal in some states and it is such a bad thing it is ruining another.Sounds kinda stupid huh. I think if two adults come to an agreement who cares.Sounds like CPSO wants to be the moral police .With all the STD 's you would be crazy but that's your business. I think there are alot bigger problems.I have an idea why dont the police round up illegals and other violent criminals. I bet if this state and the sheriff office could get tax dollars off of it thier story would change. All I'm saying is I feel we have alot more problems than hookers and johns.

Pete

Pretty much in agreement with Kyle on this one... I could be wrong, but I thought once a price was named for a service it became entrapment.. What I saw in the video clip was a cop approaching the Johns and making them an offer..What I'm getting is the impression that by keeping it a misdeamenor with a fine, no one will get the urge to fight it in court.. Since CVS is making the John the victim in a victimless crime I would think that the John would have a good argument..

Frog if a guy pays for sex and doesn't get caught no one is hurt, but when he gets a citation from the CPSO then they become guilty of the pain caused to the family..

What would really profit the parish would be if the John cops teamed up with the saggin cops and yesterdays language cops.. They could issue three tickets on one bust.. Just so the tickets stayed under $500.. It would be cheaper to pay the fines, as most lawyers start at $500 for a defense.. Thanks Pete

its funny how people who have absolutely NO CLUE about law enforcement and how everything goes down, always have something negative to say...but what happens when you need to police? you are the first to dial 911 begging for relief. rapest and "bad guys" and other types of criminals don't walk around with stamps on their foreheads saying "hey look at me! i'm the guy your looking for!" so don't be dumb, and besides if your so smart, why aren't you out there trying to help? oh wait, I forget its not your job and you don't know anything about ours...

tom

everyone always will try to make it about politics and money...just because you have too much credit card dept and are foreclosing on your house doesn't give you the right to bash something you know nothing about. I agree with rl, don't talk about something you didn't go to school for and don't try and make it about yourself just because some "saggin" officer gave you a ticket for drinking and driving 10 years ago and now your pi**** about it.

RL

oh! I almost forget to add something. you think no one gets hurt when a guy pays for sex?? only a male would say something that stupid. do you know what really happens when a man pays for sex from a prostitute? she takes that money and goes buy crack with it. she gets that crack from the pimp who lives next door to you who is also selling it to your son and daughter who the police are also doing operations on!! you think prostition stings are the only operations the cpso is doing? gee, some people need to think longer than their nose...

J.Frato

While drugs and violence seem to run rampart in our area, our law enforcement make the decision to waste taxpayer dollars on a victimless crime that is actually LEGAL in other states!! Thank God our Police find it necessary to protect us from such dangerous criminals. What a stupid waste of valuable time and money!

joe

What if he prostitute is young and you use a belt on her......Do you get a fine and go to jail?

Lee

This state legalized gambling, why not legalize prostitution? More Taxes and about the same morally.

Pete

Joe, there is NO prostitute
RI, there is NO prostitute, no pimps no dealers, just a cop and a John.. You talk about what happens to a man, then you go off on the female prostitute.. That just says NOTHING happens to the man..
Tom.. saggin law wasn't around 10 years ago, i don't drink and drive.. I just feel that tax dollars should be spent on real criminals and should not be used to create more criminals.. How much money and manpower was totally wasted on this sting to net 16 fines??? that's whats stupid.

Rhea Pete

Let's see.... having sex with someone I don't even know whom also is mandated by their government to be "examined" twice a week in order to rid the cooties from their "previous visitors"....hmmmm... and that's if prostitution is legal! Don't think so. Where's Cinamax late at night when you need it?

Carolyn

If you don't want to risk an arrest, don't dabble in things you know to be wrong. When we choose to do wrong we suffer the consequences. Don't blame the laws or the law enforcers----blame yourself.

Andrew Casanave

Legalized prostitution means testing for STDs, zoning the activity, elimination of the need for pimps & tax dollars that can be used to keep more girls in school and off of the streets.

The casinos maintain women who "entertain" high rollers, just like they do in Las Vegas, but we treat that industry well because everybody gets a little of the money (including advertising money for KPLC).

I do wonder how many of those who support this type of law enforcement will vote to re-elect David Vitter.

The war on prostitution, like the war on drugs, is a failure. Legalize & regulate it, just like liquor, tobacco & gambling.

LC resident

Legalize it and control it.

Let's focus on more important things in our community. Child abuse, domestic violence, our children not getting an education, and even litter.

tim

I think it is funny how all the guys are for prostitution lol lol. You guys are sick and shame on you. I hope your wives and daughters read your comments.

Jay Brassieur

I find it interesting that local police will spend time on this when there are far more damaging issues which need to be addrfessed. How, exactly do the police decide which laws they willuphold, and which ones they will ignore. While one or two folks are being busted for soliciting sex, millions of illegalinvadors are pouring over our borders and stealing our tax payer dollars via social entitlement programs, health care they don't pay for, etc. How do the police, and more, why do the police, arbitrarily decide to enforce some laws and not others. By definition, enforcing only some laws for some people is a violation of "equal treatment under the law". Illegal invaders seem to be immune to the laws, and local police are worrying about a misdemeanor baited prostitution bust.???

LC resident

The stings are a waste of our officers' time and a waste of our tax dollars.

C.N.M.

THE WAY I SEE IT IS, THOSE WHO SEE PROSTITUTION AS "NO BIG DEAL" ARE OBVIOUSLY THOSE WHO GO OUT THERE AND PICK UP THIS TRASH OR THOSE WHO WANT TO... I KNOW I DON'T WANT MY CHILDREN TO EVER SEE THESE WOMEN (OR MEN) ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OR GOD FORBID IN THE BACKSEAT OF A CAR IN A PARKING LOT OR WHERE EVER THEY SEE FIT TO DO YOUR "DIRTY" DEED.
ABSOLUTLY DISGUSTING !!!!!

jd

I think it's great. I believe that all laws should be enforced. It helps contribute to a better overall life. Traffic cops give citations to people who speed...is that a waste of tax payer money? Is it a victimless crime? How many violent criminals have been arrested in a traffic stop? Plenty. I would be willing to bet, if cops worked on more of the "minor" laws, there would less crimes.
By the way prostitution is legal in Nevada, but not in Las Vegas. Even Vegas is wise enough to understand that prostitution is not good for business.

tee boudreaux

So the local police get a little shot on TV to show that they're "on the job" protecting us from crime. They gotta do something so we'll feel safer.

Last time I listened it wasn't prostitutes and their johns ripping off purses in the parking lots at the mall and that oh so tasteful Hwy 14 Wal-mart...

And to "RL", if I call 9-11 for a cop, you can bet that I will be doing it with a gun in my hand, standing over the bleeding corpse of whoever tried to enter my home unasked... Dial 911, then dial for a pizza delivery, and see who gets there first... Unless you live next door to the donut shop...
