who care's about this

of course,,just what the judge wants...BULLET HOLE DANCERS...

this world is horrible that we have to have this.

judges have to have a place to (unwhine) after a (hards) day work.

you people who run this parish are pathetic

Mike

Agree or not with the validity of a "gentlemens club", they still have the right to operate like any other legitimate business in Calcasieu parish until that activity is deemed illegal. You also have the right to not walk in the door of these type businesses. The police jury is breaking the law by not granting the liquor license. Hypocracy has no place here.

Bubba

This is a perfect example of how Calcasieu Parish stumbles through day-to-day life. We make rules for businesses to follow, they comply, then we try to tell them "NO".

We set up "Boards" to make sure our interests are protected but we man the "Boards" with people that choose to not follow guidelines. This happens daily. We have two Airport Boards with aviation experience on neither.

I think that the majority of people don't want alcohol, tobacco or gambling, but they are legal. Get over it, and move on. We need to stop trying to run this Parish with our hearts, and start running it with our brains.

I thought that it was very interesting that the Parish Administrator had not one word to say, nor was asked his opinion, about this whole matter. That's the job that I want.

Calcasieu Parish "POLICE" Jury appears to be living up to its name..POLICE. I am not particulary in favor of "gentlemens" clubs but if they are meeting rules and requirements then so be it. I won't be going there and anyone else that goes there has a choice. As a mature adult I am fully able to make choices and don't need a "Police Jury" deciding what is or is not in my best moreal interest. This is America.

Vcrozas

Sorry can't find spellcheck...I do not need a Police Jury deciding what is in MY best moral interest ..I don't need government to tell me what to eat, where I can and cannot go as long as whatever I am doing is legal.

Da Gardner

The only problem I see is the fact i have to drive to vinton to enjoy this establishment. maybe if the members of the police jury were to partake in the club then they would not be such closed minded people, who are THEY to decide what is right or wrong for ME if i want to go i will go if not then don't it is that damn simple, heck why don't they pull the license of the skate place on nelson after all some kid could break an ankle and that would be bad.....
get a life police jury. picture a gentlemen club on the lake front nothing like a stripper on the poll with the sun setting over the lake in the background. and that would increase tourism.:) :) :)

Forget About It

It is too dangerous to drive anymore with the DUI Gestapo out there. Only politicians get away with crime these days

Justathought

Do we not have enough "SMUT" around here now? Not to mention the sick individuals, like molesters, rapers, wife beaters and just plain perverts. Get real and get busy getting the degenerates and criminals off the street for good. Stop babying these people and start making them pay with for their wrong doings.

Swamp Charly

ADULT....that means over 21....since when the Church POLICE has overriding rights over the LAW ????

Live and let live.....that is NOT a local topic.....
Its enough that the government gets involved in our every moves....now the church is getting involved....what about them having alcohool on their premises without a licence???

Jake LeBrun

Justathought:

I agree! Our officials should be going after criminals, not legitamate business owners. If you don't want to dance naked around a pole, don't. If you don't want to see that, don't. It's a free country.

Jake LeBrun

Unlike the churches that blast establishments like this as "immoral", strip clubs and bars pay taxes. If you don't like to drink or watch dancers, don't. But taxation of their operations still helps fund our schools, hospitals, roads, bridges and police force.

curly

HAHAH why is this even a HOT topic.

bill

Because it's news curly, that's why it's a topic. When local gooberments try to dictate who can run a legit business or not it is news.

Steve

Whether you Bible thumpers disagree with strip clubs should be irrelevant. Whatever happened to separation of church and state. Like it or not this is a legit business that will bring money to parish and provide jobs (strippers, bartenders, bouncers, DJ's etc..)

John Guillory

This is the most amusing article I've seen yet. First off they claim it'll promote Illegal activity (as if the horse race gambling doesn't allready do that!) I could be wrong, but I thought it was the responsibility of the police department to arrest people who where doing illegal activity. When a place of business continously engages in illegal activity, the police are expected to shut them down. Granted, that's most likely why the police jury's worried about shutting them down before they open. Too many businesses engage in illegal activity that the police just turn their heads on because "It brings in tax money to the parish". Has anyone ever seen somebody parking in a handicapped parking spot without any handicap permits? I'm kinda wondering how the police department got a handicap permit for their cars.... The other issue is that 1000's of Vinton residents signed a pettition to keep them out. O.k., and the population of vinton is what? If this is the case and every one of those petition signers do not want the bar there, then it'd seem the bar would end up closing down after a month or so from lack of customers. I have no problem what soever with the Police Jury refusing the license, just find it amusing that they did it for all the wrong reasons. Perhaps we should revoke the occupational license from every doctor and hospital on the grounds that they may charge too much for their services and encourage people to prefer staying sick rather than having a $3,000.00 medical bill! Anybody remember that B.S. rule they come up with for new gas stations being built that must have a generator so that the police can pump gas in the middle of a hurricane? Anybody remember Tony Mancuso's famous words for I believe it was Gustauve? Even though the hurricane wasn't dangerous enough for a mandatory evacuation and the workers of Connoco, Sasol, and the mail carriers all had to work through the hurricane, I can remember Tony Mancuso saying that when the winds picked up his men would not be on the streets because it was too dangerous. Not too dangerous for a mandatory evacuation. Not too dangerous for the plant workers, but it is too dangerous for police protection! Funny thing the local police department was on the streets quite often. The Sherrif's department was no where to be found, but that probably has something to do with Tony Mancuso being on the Calcasieu Parish Police jury being able to make decisions for the people like this. I just wished the citizens of this area would wake up and start electing some new officials who actually have "our" best interest at hand and not their own best interest.

Tom Jones

KPLC dosn't give us the reason why the CPPJ didn't grant the lisence. Until we know these reasons we are all assuming. There maybe something wrong that we are not privy too. I agree to error on the side of caution. There are 1000's of reasons why they maybe holding off granting this license. KPLC, Give us the whole story so we can be informed before you ask us how we feel about anything....

Lonnie

The girls that are dancers do not perform naked nor do they have live sex on stage or on the premises. Guess the Police Jury should bar all swimmers, since they are "naked."

If you don't like it, don't go to it. Because wearing my great grandfathers 1905 striped male swimsuit to go to the beach is a bit like Queen Victoria's mindset. Grow up Calcasieu!

Swamp Charly

I am so relieved that most people posting have the right attitude!

You dont like it? dont patronize it....

When a government authority starts using its privileges to overcome the Law , then it is the beginning of the end of freedom...

I say DEMAND THAT THE POLICE JURY RESIGN OR FIRE THEM ALL!!!

They are a danger to the Constitution of the USA ...next what ? maybe they should start wearing brown shirts ???

Jus' Sayin'

Police jurors are elected to represent specific districts. If the people in the areas they represent do not want an establishment like this one in there community they contact the juror and speak their peace. Its is the jurors responsibility to represent their district.... That is what they did! I'm sure now that a judge has ordered them grant the licence, that is what they will do. Rightfully
I for one do not agree with these kind establishments but it is what it is....

Mike

The biggest pont missed is that they knew their vote was going to be overturned. Now we have watsed money the government does not have haveing tho overturn a decision they knew would be overturned. Guess who pays for that? Good ol middle class.

jack

I am glad they got the license. Shame on the police jury for trying to block it. The establishment did everything right to obtain the license so why not give it to them. I bet if you visited this place you would see some of the police jurors in there. This is a group saying it is immoral but you would probably find their vehicles parked around back.

bd

People, just remember what good stewards of our money the police jury is, they spend money needlessly when their own attorney tells them at the last meeting that they are in violation of their own laws by not issueing the club a permit, but because the bible thumpers dont care about laws and the police jurors want their votes they(8 of them) commited an illegal act by not granting a permit when the businesss met all critera to get a permit.but remember, they spend our money wisely and they deserve to get the tax (that we voted down once already) passed so they can continue to spend our money wisely by violating their own law and having to pay legal fees to keep from being held in contempt of court..JUST VOTE NO ON THE TAX RENEWAL and they wont have money to spend on legal council to protect their dumb A----s.Hey its just play money anyway and they dont care if they have to spend it on lawsuits. And for all you psuedo religious people who dont believe in the letter of the law, wait till they come for you.

Stand Strong

Aren't there laws for a community's decency standards being based on what the local community stands for and wants?!? If there is a local petition with the local community's input and standards communicated I believe local officials should recognize their stance.

Officials who voted to not grant the license because they were representing their constituents' standards in their district did what they should have done! Those that disagreed with the club but voted for it anyway because they thought it was going to get passed "no matter what" are giving in to pressure of outside forces.

A stand for decency should not be judged on income, tax benefits and desires of others who "may" visit your community.

InterigtyLost

I firmly believe that each member of the Police Jury should be prosecuted for breaking the law! They should have to pay a price for knowingly and willingly breaking the law in denial of the license without due cause! Of course the DA is in cahoots with those who sit on the Jury so there will never be any charges filed.
Don't steal, the Government hates competition!

InterigtyLost

Get ready tp pay for more lawsuits! You can bet the Police will harass that business and its customers until they have to shut down. Can anyone guess what follows? Thats right the Police being sued for harassment. Who foots the bill? We Do! Who profits? Lawyers! Who sits on that board that is NOT related to an attorney or is not 'Good Buddies" with an attorney? Can you say Racketeering? Yet it will go unchecked cause there is no one to call them on it! They are the Law! So they think!
