"Catty" Behavior

It's a sight that disturbed animal lovers all over the world... A woman caught on camera dumping a cat in a garbage can.  Why would she do such a thing?  That's the question everyone wants to know.  But so far, no one's getting any answers.  You've probably seen the video by now.  It's been posted all over the world on the internet.  Now the media is camped outside of the British woman's home, she's been bombarded by television reporters, and now the British Humane Society is looking into the incident.  In the video the woman walks up to the unsuspecting animal... lightly pets it... and then calmly picks the cat up, lifts the cover, and dumps the cat in the garbage can.  What do you think about the woman's actions? Do you think it was a poor idea of joke?  And what kind of punishment, if any, should she get?

Punishment?? Seriously?? People need to quit watching disney. Animals are not humans. They are property. And that's a fact!

Animal cruelty is only the beginning...it can & usually will progress to cruelty to those humans that cannot protect themselves, i.e. children, the elderly, etc.
We must stop ALL forms of cruelty from the onset. BESIDES, anyone who visits cruelty on any living creature needs to be taught a lesson & punished for their abuse on those helpless creatures who mistakely trust must humans!!!

Kay...You need to get a hobby, when I was in Mexico they used to cook and serve cats, to be honest with you they were pretty tasty. Now do not get me wrong I do not advocate the unnecessary abuse of animals, but if I find a fox in the hen house the fox will not see the next day, and if I am driving down the highway and a critter crosses in front of me I WILL NOT swerve to avoid it and possibly cause an accident.
Now KPLC, is this really the best you could do. Why not have a blog about the number of cars with illegally tinted windows that local law enforcement ignores, or the cars with that BOOM BOOM rap music blaring out so loud that I find it hard to place my order at the Dairy Queen drive thur. Or the number of cars with those expensive rims on them sitting in the projects and you know they are getting food stamps in the form of the taxes I pay. Now that KPLC is a blog.

This video is no catastrophe. All this caterwauling about a cat when babies are thrown in the trash after having been torn limb from limb? Tell you what...I'll take cats serious when the rest of the world begins to take unborn babies serious. It does not speak highly of our society when there is more "moral" outrage about a cat in a trash can than the hundreds of babies that will end up there today.

The video showing the British woman putting the cat in a garbage can is not deserving of a second look. While it was in poor taste, it is not "animal cruelty" and certainly not deserving of a criminal label. While there are certainly instances of true animal abuse and cruelty, this is not one of them. Not even close. Unless you're a strict vegetarian, somebody had to kill what you had for dinner. I don't consider that animal cruelty but some tree-huggers do. They're entitled to their opinion just as I'm entitled to mine. In the meantime, I'll take my steak medium-rare.

Where did these people come from. Nobody is putting the welfare of a cat above that of a baby. That lady is just cruel. Somebody should put her in a garbage can for a little while and see how she likes it!

I don’t think she meant to close the lid. I’m sure she didn’t want the cat to run away and knew it was the neighbor’s cat. Now if she comes out and says no no I wanted that cat dead then ok.

I think she should get at least two years of jail time because people know better then that because that is cruel and unuseal punishment to any animal unless you are an avide sportsman for hunting and fishing. But when it comes to mans beat friend that is just wrong and how can someone be so mean to an animal like a cat or a dog.

Yes there should be punishment to anyone that abuses animals or humans and I think an appropriate punishment is to work for 2 weeks at an animal shelter. Dr. T

How can they say it was a joke? Who is the joke on, the cat? It's on the lady that had a camera on her that showed how she behaved. Certainly anyone that abuses animals like those who even abuse children, needs a punishment. Her punishment should be to work at an animal shelter for a month.

Not that it would matter what we think since its not even here...But I think they need to give that lady a charge of abuse on an animal that you can clearly see on the video wasnt doing any harm to her at all. She needs to pay a fine to the owner and also do community service, like working for an animal shelter. TWO YEARS FOR CRUELTY TO AN ANIMAL? Heck, you don't even get that long for drugs, child abuse, and in some cases, attempted murder, or heck, even murder sometimes.

Has this women ever been convicted of child abuse, or elderly abuse? Just because you "ABUSE" an animal doesn't make you a BABY KILLER.

Out where i grew up, people were always killing stray dogs and cats that would tear up the trash, or attack the chickens....didn't ever hear of any of them taking it to the next level, though.

It's just an animal. GOD put them here to help and to eat. I don't recall there being a commandment about treating animals like your children.

Cats are cool , kids are cool. Too many cats, too many hungry kids. I say give a high school kids a cat for lunch and the elementary kids a kitten for lunch. Cat population under control, hungry kids not so hungry any more. Problem solved. After all its like the other, other, other white meat???
