The federal government and the Obama Administration has some explaining to do after the Associated Press uncovered some highly questionable expenses related to the BP oil spill. The government is asking BP to pay it back for several questionable contracts. Among the more unusual expenses...The Coast Guard paid a guy to watch news coverage on the spill and tell them what was being said on the daily broadcasts. How much do you think the wages were for that job? How about 18 thousand dollars for three months of work! They're also looking at 10 thousand dollars paid to a photographer to shoot video for a day. What's your reaction to the reports about questionable spending during the BP spill?

Will a Florida preacher be adding fuel to the flames of discord in this country if he goes through with his plans for burning copies of the Quran this Sunday? Pastor Terry Jones, the leader of a small church in Gainesville, Florida plans to pile up Qurans, the Muslim holy book, and burn them in commemoration of September 11th. And so far, the Pastor refuses to call it off, despite pleas from military, political, and religious leaders. Father Federico Lombardi, a spokesman for the Vatican said "This act would only call for new hate and violence." And Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, "I am heartened by the clear, unequivocal condemnation of this disrespectful, disgraceful act that has come from American religious leaders of all faiths."In Jakarta, Indonesia, protesters call the Pastor's plans a symbol of hate, and they're asking the U.S. government to step in. But however outrageous and disgraceful some may view this act of burning the Qurans... others point out that it is constitutionally legal. What do you think about the Pastor's plans to burn the Muslim Holy Book? What good can possibly come from such an act? And doesn't it symbolize religious intolerance, the very antithesis of what America stands for? Give us your views.
"If at first you don't succeed, try and try again..." That just about sums up what the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury is doing when it comes to two important tax propositions that they're putting before voters once again. Those tax propositions failed in May. But Parish leaders say they're too significant to not try again. The first proposition is the continuation of the current 3.27 mill property tax. Money that will pay for jail and courthouse maintenance. The other is a 1.50% sales tax for road improvements and garbage collection outside the cities. Without that sales tax, residents in the unincorporated areas may lose garbage collection and would have to individually pay for their own garbage pickup. The election is October 2nd. What's your reaction to the tax propositions being put on the ballot again, even though voters rejected them in May?

Are you just as afraid of those with a cell phone in their hands as you are of those with a bottle of beer?
The American combat mission in Iraq is over. That was the message last night from President Obama as he spoke to the nation. He declared that the Iraqi people now have lead responsibility for the security of their country. But now that Iraq's future is in Iraqi hands, do you believe they will be able to maintain security? Or will the country fall into civil war? Is that country any better off than it was ten years ago?
