Don't Ask. Don't Tell

The legal battle continues over the military's "don't ask don't tell" policy for gays. A federal appeals court panel is considering whether to extend the policy while the government appeals a lower court ruling that barred the policy. A gay rights group wants the appeals court to let the lower court ruling stand. Is it time to end the "don't asks, don't tell" policy, and allow gays to serve openly in the military?

I'm not even sure why this is an issue in the first place. There are many gays and lesbians serving our country in the Armed Forces. Many "straight" Americans refuse to accept the challenges that the gays and lesbians who currently serve our country accept so why would we want to deny any American the right to serve and fight for your rights. This is really a non-issue. I know many service men and women and none of them even care. Some have even said that they would rather have their gay and lesbian brothers and sisters beside them than some of their other comrades. Don't Ask Because Who Cares!

My question is this: What is the relevance of having your sexuality exploited and what does it have to do with performing a job? Is it the fear that a homosexual may not be able to perfom the job, or in that case any heterosexual! I agree with the above comment, who cares! Stay focused on the job duties and get it done! Your sexual preference is not a factor of performing job duties, that is a personal matter.

There is so much going on in this country than rather gays can serve openly in the military. Sure they can but they need to keep thier sexual thoughts and feelings to themselves just as straights should. One advance and your butt is gone. Hey KPLC why aren't you talking about all the big companies dropping your insurance coverage because the fine is cheaper and here is Obamas other lie. I have a two cousins in the army, 1 a girl 1 a guy, i asked them about this and they both told me it is not a matter of trust it is a matter of personal comfort, for example they would not want to be taking a shower with an openly gay person for fear that the gay person might be checking them out. The question could be posed to all of you pro gay people WHY are you not DEMANDING OPEN COED BATHROOMS, some colleges have coed bathrooms why not Wal-mart?? Or would you mind taking a shower at work as a female and having your male boss also be in there with you?? Honestly would you feel comfortable?? Ladies if your husband has to work overtime and his boss is gay, would you wonder if the boss is attracted to him?? You see now why my cousins say it is a matter of comfort, and not trust, i could give you more of their examples but i hope you get the idea.
As for you Mr. Obama haters, as long as he supports my government checks coming to me I support HIM. and ron paul? come on can you trust a guy with 2 first names.

I agree with the question,"What does your sexual orintation have to do with the job at hand"? The real problem with the whole issue is the homosexual pushing their life style on the world. As a Veteran, I do not want a homosexual next to me, being dependant on him to cover me in battle.

Our country was founded on the premise of all men or women being treated equally,as Americans we have not always lived up to that premise,there should not be a question of whether there should be a dont ask,dont tell policy,anyone wanting to serve their country should be allowed to and if they are gay,straight,black,white or any other in our melting pot they should be treated with the same respect.If a straight person has a problem being in a unit with a gay person then its their problem,not the gay persons or any other one else.Joe, in battle I would rather have a homosexual covering me than the crooked tax assessor you were defending in another blog.As an American I believe in our Constitution all men(women) to be treated equally.

Hmmm -- Last time I applied for a job no one asked my sexual orientation because that is a privacy issue.

That being said -- What right does the government have to ask this question?

What does a person's sexual orientation have to do with their ability to shoot a gun, fly a helicopter, drive a tank, or march?
