     She said she was raped on campus... Now more than a month later, the 18 year old female McNeese student says she lied. 18 year old Kolbie Wade was arrested and charged with criminal mischief, while the 19 year old man, Tyler Leger, who was wrongfully accused in her "made up" crime has now been released.  Kolbie admitted to police that she didn't even know Tyler Leger and that she made up the entire story.   Today in our "Hot Topic," we stress that no one should ever dismiss or not take it seriously if a woman says she's been raped.  And MSU Campus Police Chief Cinnamon Salvador emphasizes that "We don't want this to have a chilling effect on other possible victims of sexual assault.  A lot of times, they (women) will have this feeling that if it's reported, that they won't be believed and we want to make sure that people understand if you come to us we want you to report that..."  But the question is... do cases such as this one make it harder for other women who truly are victims of rape?  What are the ramifications of such false reporting on other women and the men who are falsely accused?

The accuser should have to spend a many days in jail as the accused did then face the court system.
I am very disappointed in the Sheriff Dept--where was the DNA test as he was claiming innocence? More investigating SOONER before
claiming victory on another case.

When a person accuses someone of rape, they know that if convicted, the accused will have to register as a sex offender for life. With that said, I think anyone who files false rape reports should also have to register as a sex offender for life.

The accuser should have to face jail time for staging this rape. She knew how serious this accusation was when she made it and there is no excuse for it. I wish Tyler success if he decides to sue her.

What amuses me is watching our Sheriff and McNeese police squirming and trying to justify their complete lack of professionalism and investigational competence by just accepting this girl's word that a rape had taken place. Then they locked up a random suspect without any proof whatsoever. Apparently no rape test was performed at any medical facility. Whatever happened to "Innocent until PROVEN Guilty"? This is a sad example of a knee jerk reaction and complete investigational incompetence.

So if I or any other guy was in that line up and she randomly picked me, would I have gone to jail for rape with no proof? The bond was $750,000 no one has that kinda of money laying around to bail someone out until a "fair" trial. Sounds to me like horrible police work and they should throw the book at this girl.

I think the police departments, sheriff's department and all other authorities in this case should be investigated. This innocent kid was scarred and arrested for simply hear say for the rest of his life. Good luck with your (I hope) inevitable law suit. Way to go Mike! Having dealt with the MSU Police Chief Cinnamon Salvador in the past. It is of no suprise to me of the lack of competence people have in her. With all the recent problems at McNeese, maybe a new Police Chief would give the MSU Police Department some needed leadership and credibility.

I agree what she did was not right and she should be punished, but don't get to carried away with all the POOR Tyler stuff. A week before the alleged rape he was arrested for child pornography.

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Officers with State Police Troop D arrested 19 year old Tyler Leger of Lake Charles for possession of child pornography.

Friday, police served a search warrant at a Lake Charles residence and searched two computers but found no child porn. Detectives then determined that a neighbor was accessing the router located at that residence illegally to search the Internet.

Investigators then went to 711 Murbelle Street and found Leger, along with his computer that did have child pornography on it. During an interview, Leger admitted to downloading the porn using his neighbors internet service without permission.

Leger was arrested for unauthorized use of a wireless router system and pornography involving juveniles and booked in the Calcaseiu Parish Correctional Center.

He is currently out on $12,500 bond.

Why has there been no statements from the Lake charles city police dept.To me they should have been the one investigating the alleged rape,not the sheriff's dept.Mabey the sheriff's dept has to find something to justify having 800 full time deputies and 140 part time.I think alot of the problem is that the sheriff should cut his staff by half and focus only on all areas outside of city limits and leave the cities to their own police depts.unless they ask for help.As for the mcNeese police all they are good for is giving students parking tickets and having their cars towed,sorry lot.

To have someone accuse another of Rape is shameful and consequences should be paid. The said rapist would have had to stand trial and definately face prison time. Now the said victim should have to go through the same process with the same results, prison time. It's time the justice system steps up and stop all the false accusing of people. I think she should be thrown in jail for twice the amount of time he was there then, stand on a street corner wearing a sign saying "I lied about being raped and put an innocent man in jail". I also think he should be very well compensated by McNeese and the city of Lake Charles no matter his prior convictions.
