Louisiana voters got to see senate candidates David Vitter and Charlie Melancon square off for the second time in as many nights. As the two candidates head for the final days before the election, the campaigning has gotten hot and heavy. The debate Thursday night was ripe with heated exchanges, as Vitter and Melancon traded jabs over integrity and ethics. For those of you who watched last night's contest, who do you think won the debate?
Did not watch
Wish we had a choice of NONE of THE ABOVE

Don't care which one of THEM won a debate. To me, the question should be: are we, the voters, gonna "win" with either one of them?

Just my two cents worth...When KPLC deletes comments posted by it's blogger's what makes them any better then a country ruled by dictators the control your right to free speech. I served in the military for over 20 years for some constitutional rights like free speech, if YOU do not like the comments I post or the replies given to what other people have posted then delete their blogs as well. Or suck it up and let freedom ring.

Democrats have LOST their way from Greed .....What part of " IT's the Economy Stupid " do you not UNDERSTAND ?

I was disappointed with the media. They let Melancon argue & interrupt; but when Vitter did, he was called down. I felt although both were asked intense questions, the media was bias for Melancon. They should keep personal attacks & family out of it.Is Melancon vying for "sainthood'. He was condescending. Instead of discussing like civilized people, it was attack after attack, Vitter less than Melancon.Melancon certainly lost my vote last night.......

I couldn't care less. I refuse to vote for either of those clowns.
As for the media deleting comments from blogs - they have the right to. There is no such thing as a "free press". Sponsors fund the media and they call the shots. Their websites aren't public property. Fox News agrees to it, CNN agrees to it, KPLC agrees to it. If you want freedom, you won't find it in the media.

Melancon is forced to resort to personal attacks because his voting record on supporting the wishes of the citizenry is dismal. He cannot win any argument with Vitter on issues that matter to the majority of Louisiana voters. So...the sequence of events during the debate was entirely predictable. I think Vitter responded in kind out of frustration and Melancon's refusal to stick to the issues brought up by the moderator. Remember to vote on November 2nd and help clean up this mess!!

Charlie Melancon is a loser!

Doesn't anybody see the light they have both been in offices for too long and we lose with either one. WE NEED NEW BLOOD TO MAKE CHANGES NOT CAREER IDOITS

Po ole Vitter, them mean ole people jusk keep on axing if he broke the law and was consorting (or something similar) with Hoes,so much for family values, and dont forget thats how vitter got the job he's in now ,he was steady attacking Livingstons family values and he also voted to cap the damage from B.P. at 150,000,000.good ole moral david I know all you pseudo Christians dont want to hear about all them hoes.

It's time for Vitter to go.

I feel Vitter is the best choice. Old Charlie is a liberal. I think we need term limits for all elective officials.

You know, i didn't get to see the debate, just what was shown on the news clip. I tell you what, I think these candidates should stop all this dragging through the dirt, and just tell the people what they themselves plan to do. Why is it every commercial you see is nothing but negative about the other person! As for Charlie Melancon, will not vote for him, the only thing he seems worried about is David Vitter's dirt laundry! Where is that going to help Louisiana? So he has done wrong in his life, guess what we are all sinners, there is only one judge we should answer to for our short comings, that is Our Lord and Savior. Praying for our Country and all these people in office from our President on down! God Bless you all

since we have no real choice i say lets fire vitter and show melancon if he doesn't work for the people who put him in office then he's fired next. and hope next election we get some new blood in office. remember you take an honest man and make a politician out off him then you have a dishonest man every time.

If it wasn't for attacking Vitter, Melancon would have nothing to talk about. Vitter spoke intelligently about how he approaches the issues, and Melancon could not.

Charlie the weasel!
Has no issues!
What a poor debate! Perpetrated by the panel of questioners. It appears they are on the sode of the weasel.

It was painfully obvious that the media was biased in favor of melancon. Voters have enough common sense to recognize that melancon does NOT represent the values of Louisiana.
Posted by: Monica | October 29, 2010 at 05:44 PM
Vitter said he looked the fools, I mean people of Louisiana in the eyes and they are alright with his transgressions... OMG what a piece of crud.

My first and last look at Melancon proved that he is another mindless NObama puppet just like Little Katrina Mary Landrieu. The will of the people means nothing to them. I found Melancon immature, inarticulate and hotheaded. All he could do was make juvenile, personal attacks on David Vitter for his PAST. Melancon has NO positive ideas for fixing any of the serious problems facing our state and our nation. He was a huge disappointment. Incidentally; I'm an Independent and I was looking at both candidates with an open mind. After seeing this my vote is going to David Vitter. He impressed me and he has been an effective voice for Louisiana. I think he will continue to do that. Guess I'd rather the "prostitute," than the "socialist!"

Vitter has my vote. He has fought hard for this community and anyone that actually follows the political issues knows this.
Before you believe every "dirt ridden" commercial you see maybe you should check the voting record facts at www.senate.gov for Vitter and www.house.gov for Melancon.
As for the comments about being in office too long -- both Vitter and Melancon have served one term.
Posted by: Mom | October 30, 2010 at 06:06 AM
I wish the Media had spent more time with the other people running for Mr. Vitter's job because one of them is going to get my vote. I'm not going to vote for who is the better of the two this time. Someone new will have to do.

Melancon only knows negative politics. His history as a politician is dismal and just shows he is one of the nuts we do NOT need in the congressional delegation.

One term is too long if u do nothing good for us 2 terms if u are great and then that is it the pay stops completly.
Posted by: Jeff Davidson | October 30, 2010 at 08:44 AM
If you do not by now see Vit-man as nothing more than a rubber stamp for the corportization of the US government, then shame on you.

I like David Vittter and I'm going to vote for him because he has fought very hard for Louisiana and I know he'll keep doing that. I have to admit that after the first five minutes of the debate I was ready to throw my remote control at the tv and tell them both to just shut the hell up. FRUSTRATING! I wanted to hear their ideas on the issues facing us and not this ridiculous fighting back and forth. Don't they understand that the voters are sick of that kind of nonsense? That's why our country is where it's at today!
