The Obama administration is lashing out at WikiLeaks - the whistle-blower website - and its fugitive Australian founder, saying the massive document dump of confidential and embarrassingly candid U.S. diplomatic messages is dangerously criminal and an attack on civilization. WikiLeaks, which had previously published hundreds of thousands of U.S. Defence Department documents exposing details of the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, bills itself as a digital-era platform where governments can be held to account.
What do you think? Is WikiLeaks breaking the law by releasing this information, or is it part of the freedom of the press as it's founder claims?
I think it is wrong. I have to admit it does not surprise me at all. There is a book I read that says if you sleep with Dogs you will soon smell like one and have fleas and you won't be able to tell you from the dog.

It's amazing how a liberal screams "criminal" ...when they want to....and screams "freedom of the press"...when they want to. This government can't stop the perpetually leaking of illegal aliens into it's own country and now they think an informational leak should be prevented? ......
That being said....is all I have to say....

Wikileaks dropping information in a way to hurt America and putting American lives at stake is wrong. More wrong is giving up trust for those idiots who provided the data. I would consider that a treasonous act with the punishment that goes along with that crime up to and including death. They should be prosecuted.

N Y Times thinks it is freedom of (LIBERAL) press.
If some of this info needed to come out, let the parties involved RELEASE it.
It is Espionage,

Destroy thier equipment, after confiscating it and looking into it, and punish the people doing this. It is cyber terrorisim, and treat it as such. Remember Aron Burr, and the people lost in WW 1,2, Iraq, 9/11, ETC.

It is espionnage by any other name....the only difference is that the public is now informed sooner.
Posted by: Swamp Charly | November 30, 2010 at 09:52 AM
what’s the difference between these people and paparazzo’s? or even the Media. Aren't they getting these document from someone? so who is leaking it? I mean just think if these people had this site up for 9/11 how much more we would know.
Posted by: curly | November 30, 2010 at 10:59 AM
po'mo'jo'bro'..... you were an idiot under the other name you used and you are still an idiot. geez,They walk amoung us.If they violated the law, prosecute them,(wikileaks)
who ever leaked the classified documents should certianly be prosecuted for treason.

I wonder who funds Wikileaks? George Soros anyone?
Will the internet remain free?

Anyone old enough to remember to Watergate? There is only one way to hold these Uppity Politicians to task, that is, to expose their mis dealings. They hide so much behind the guise of National Security, yet they themselves are immune to prosecution for their wrongdoings. If any ordinary citizen were to fail to pay taxes for 12 years, do you honestly believe we wouldn't be prosecuted to fullest?
Sure, I dont like that some honest folks will be hurt by the revelations hidden within these documents.
When our politicians fail to notify those of us they "claim" to represent of these backroom deals, do they not then force us to find other ways to expose their crooked dealings?
Some things to ponder while you sit in judgement of others!
Posted by: WeThePeople | November 30, 2010 at 12:17 PM
To all those screaming Treason..
Was it not treasonous of our politicians to make these shady back room deals with some of the most powerful backers of the Islamic fundamentalist sect?
How do you suggest we force our politicians to deal above board so that they can be held liable for their actions?
IMHO it would only be treasonous if they revealed this information for their own personal gains and not for the actual exposing of the scum we call politicians!

Wake up guys(&gals)...treason is when a person disclose classified information FROM his own country........
Espionnage is when a person disclose classified information from another country TO his own country....
In the Wikileaks case it is NOT treason ....
By the way , the US is not the ONLY country to be embarrassed by the revelations...and actually some countries are coming out pretty well(Israel , which is vindicated in its call for Iran's threats, by the fact that most arabs nations want the same...)
So dont fret...dont blame the Obama Admin...its all par for the course , it has always been so , and just because you guys(gals)just woke up to it doesnt mean its going to matter one hoot.....

" For the Record " you are so impressive , cute too I bet : )

Come on man...Why are you so quick to blame wiki leaks, they did not write the stuff simply made it public, the blame lies in the people the wrote the info, and more importantly, with the lack of security provided for this info. I mean one would think info of this sensitive nature would be a little hard to get a hold of, let alone make public.
DA GARDNER FOR MAYOR
Posted by: Da Gardner | November 30, 2010 at 01:54 PM
I think after about 5 years everything should be public. Its the only way we can have any idea what our government is really up to.
Posted by: Steve | November 30, 2010 at 03:53 PM
Sadly they are RIGHT, the Obama administration let our secrets leak out,
it is irresponsible of wikileaks,
but not illegal, we were the stupid ones,

Just as most parents, teachers, and employers would also admit, there are numerous times where sensitive information should be withheld. Face it, people don't know what do with it. Why do we feel it our business what Hillary Clinton personally thinks of any other diplomat? This kind of recklessness can start wars. Wars that we do not want, or need. Iran and North Korea are allready looking for reasons to push the button. I will not be surprised if this Wikileaks guy ends up in box at the hands of his own (or our own) government.
Posted by: MM | November 30, 2010 at 07:04 PM
...thats right..."they" will "shoot the messenger" to cover for their recklessness at letting sensitive information cross the wires....(meanwhile the world secret services laugh out loud to see how the amateurs got caught.....)
