Today is the big day for the three companies vying for the 15th and final riverboat casino license. They all get to present their proposals before the State Gaming Control Board in Baton Rouge. Creative Casinos, run by former Pinnacle CEO Dan Lee-- and Saint Gabriel Downs want to bring a new casino to Lake Charles. The third company competing for the license is Penn National Gaming. If they're awarded the license, they would build in suburban New Orleans. The Gaming Control Board meeting is our "Hot Topic" today. What do you think are the chances of Lake Charles winning that 15th license? And what impact would it have on the gaming industry here in Southwest Louisiana if we didn't get it?
It would be beneficial for LC to get the license (as apposed to N.O.)because it would bring good jobs to the community

...surly the gaming board would allow the license to remain here where it was originally before Pinnacle tied it up for 4 years then gave it up...
off topic:
S. Austin...in response to your moronic comment...reducing assessments by 50% which he can do ...reduces taxes by 50% or more...you moron.

Isle of Capri is kinda dumpey, laBeurge is overcrowded, and coushatta is to far away, it is needed in LC but it would take much needed business from the above listed.

I think the best thing for Lake Chuck would be a HOOTERS that has slot machines. This way we get the tax revenue and we get the hotties.

Looks to me like the chances are 2 out of 3.

I hope it does come to Lake Charles. We can always use the jobs and the tax revenue that casinos provide. I also hope it hurts L'uberge's business because they lied to the Lake Charles voters and tied up the license for years.

The chances are, mathematically, two out of three but that doesn't factor politics into the mix. The decision has been made for some time but it will just be officially announced today. There has, no doubt, been money passed under the table to secure this license and we'll soon find out who paid the most. As for the effect on gaming in this area...it'll be good for the citizens but probably won't be welcomed by the existing casinos. I'll just watch and see.

This makes us really miss Edwin Edwards, when you didn't have to guess if money was being exchanged under the table, you just automatically KNEW it was going on, and went about your business.
You were hoping that YOUR crooked politicians were friends with Edwards and HIS crooked politicians so that southwest Louisiana could get some of the crumbs that fell off the big boys' table.

I do not want any casino's in Louisiana but since thats not relistic, considering all our politicans are for sale, then I think that the gaming board should make the Casino's at least keep the Casino's up to par .The writter earlier said that The Isle looks Dumpy and it really does,(thats a good description)the food selection and overall looks has gone downhill, its like the Isle is only intrested in their huge profits without spending any money on asthestics.
