Former Governor Edwin Edwards has spent his first night as a free man again. Edwards was released from the federal prison early Thursday morning. He arrived at a halfway house in Baton Rouge with his daughter Anna. Asked how it felt to be out of prison, Edwards quipped, "I don't know yet." A spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Chris Burke, says Edwards was granted home confinement. There, he'll be monitored and stay in close contact with the halfway house and federal corrections officials. What's your reaction to the release of Edwin Edwards?
What another stupid blog question. What do you at KPLC want to hear. He was not in for murder. Yes he should get out. Do you want me to say he should spend the rest of his life in jail for thieft? Maybe we should have executed him? Here is another one for yall. NO I wont vote for a crook.

I believe Edwin Edwards should of never went to jail because of the trial. The gaming board stated that the gaming licenses were given to different businesses as according to the law. I think the republican party was behind this because they knew how strong Edward was and was scared that if he would run for president he would win. I'm glad he was released and yes I would even vote for Edwards even if he ran for president because I know he would never hurt Louisiana or the USA by closing the gulf to oilfield drilling. They did not stop all the ships from working when the Exxon Valdez had its accident. Congratulation Mr. Edwards

Edwards release was overdue. Its unfortunate he and his family had to go through that ordeal. They are and will continue being in my prayers. By the way, as far as a half way house---he should be sent to the Governers Mansion and as far as a job--- hire him as a consultant to Jindal as we wait for Jindal to be evicted, and Edwards will already be in place. He was truly a Governor that loved the state of Louisiana. Bless You Governor Edwards.

Edwin Edwards went to jail for taking kickbacks, i wish all politicians would be investigated and sent to jail for money laundering. Why does a congressman or woman, senator, and president etc. Spend millions of dollars to get a job that pays top of 250k per year?

He is a crook who stole and became rich from the people of Louisiana but he served his time. I would never vote for him because he is crook.

My reaction is to let the old former governor enjoy what life he has left. He served Louisiana and then served his time. Next lame question, KPLC.

Those of us who remember Edwin Edwards know well that he was a self-admitted womanizer and racketeer who lived high on taxpayer money and defied anyone, including the Federal Government, to do anything about it. He had a lot of sleazy lawyers on his payroll and a lot of taxpayer money to throw around to keep him out of prison. It worked for several years but he eventually got what he deserved. Now that he's out, fine...he's served his sentence. I didn't vote for him while he was in office and I certainly wouldn't vote for him in the future. Fortunately, I think he's prohibited from running for office again because of his federal conviction. Now he's just another Louisiana curiosity to be tucked away in some dark corner and ignored. Democrats loved him because he gave them lots of freebies (at taxpayer expense)in order to guarantee their votes.

Mike--
You're not supposed to remember stuff like that. You're supposed to accept the kinder, gentler, sanitized image of Edwards who stole enough for him and his cronies and still had a few dribs and drabs to wow the ignorant in this state into voting for him.
In two years after he dies, they'll be having parades in HIS honor...

Why are the media making such a big deal over this? There are more important issues that should be covered by the media! He has done his time, leave him alone and don't give any publicity. He should not be able to hold any public office no matter has small the office. He is just a man like any other man except for his criminal record, he is no God.

Let's see...I don't think Mr. Edwards knows anything about aviation or airports.
So let's make him Executive Director of Lake Charles Regional Airport.
Experience doesn't matter because he doesn't have to apply.

How about that! Edwards spends 8 years and 3 months in jail and comes out and he is told he has to get a job! I am sure he will get one. Whatabout other people that are looking for jobs. Let him take a number like everyone else. Jobs are hard to find. I guess we need to go to jail inorder to get a job. lol

EWE helped my family when I could not get
help from any other polition. There are a
lots of the ones in Office now that should
take the place that EWE just left.
We the people need representation and where
can we get it?? I would vote for Edwards for
President if he were to run.

Richard--
Yeah, I bet he had plenty left over after he helped himself and his cronies to be able to scrape the crumbs off the table for you.

He did a lot for the LA, more than a lot of the dirty corrupt people in office now, like David Vitter, sleeping around with women in DC, instead of doing his job.
