Have you noticed the price at the pump lately? There seems to be no end in sight to the rising gas prices? In the Lake area, regular unleaded is hovering around 3.00 a gallon. In today's "Hot Topic" we want to know are you changing your driving habits because of the gasoline prices?
I'm thinkin' i'm likin' some of them turtles as well.....

the Obama admin. is manipulating the price of gasoline to impose a new sales tax to finance the deficit(as the demicrats were blaming the Bush Admin. for the same thing...)

What do you expect when Obama cut off the USA as a source of oil, and making it harder to get permits every day in the few areas drilling is acceptable. Unless we change the policies to permit off shore drilling in more areas, and make the permitting process a workable deal, the cost of oil, thus gasoline and supplies will continue to go up. This would include farming industrial goods and many other necessary products. You may need another job, or a new president in 2012

Since Obama is heavily interested and invested in "Green Energy", he is getting exactly what he wants by crippling the oil industry.

No im not changing my driving habits. The gas price is still not as high as it was a few years ago. I mean after the hurricane in 05 it was as high as 3.05 in 08 4 dollar. strange how the gas price didn’t move when the HUGE oil spill happened. we blamed Bush now we blame Obama. when will we blame the oil companies? BP had huge oil spills one in the gulf which is dwarfed by a “Exxon” oil spill in Nigeria .The amount of money BP spent to pay people to look for oil is a drop in the bucket .the rise of gas price across the US could be so they can get money back. we have been hearing since the first bush attacked the middle east that oil was running low. why doesn’t the media turn its attention to the oil companies?

The highest gas prices on record were during the Bush Administration. The prices skyrocketed when Pres.Bush announced "We are addicted to oil". Speculators went wild as expected. The green agenda was long started before Obama. He can not take the credit or blame for high or low fuel prices. Oil companies yell shortage and it doesn't take much to cause a kneejerk reaction in the oil markets. That lines the pockets of the middle east, oil companies and investors. Consumers are caught in the middle because of no alternatives other than walking or riding a bicycle.

"crippling the oil industry"????
Chevron, Exxon, and Shell are recording record profits. They are profiting off of this and so are their investors. My suggestion is to buy Exxon stock to compensate. (XOM) on the stock market.

Plain and simple for all of you Mental Giants - Announce that we are going to drill like hell wherever the oil and gas is , mine coal like there is no tomorrow and put 10 new Nukes in every state , the price oil will collapse to less than $45 a barrel , continue this Green Stupidity and the ceiling won't even be $ 150 / barrel. KenB , do you think Oil Cos are charities ? would you like to pay $ 100 MM per day in operating cost , do you think people just snap their fingers and gasoline appears , I do not see you blaming half the cost of a gallon on the TAXATION w/o representation

"Bobby" E Lee:"
No, of course not. Oil companies are in business to make profits. That's why I invest in them. I was merely responding to the post regarding Bill's post "crippling oil companies". I am in agreement with you on that. Energy independence is freedom in my opinion.
Posted by: KenB | January 21, 2011 at 10:34 AM
Bobby couldn't be more right. When folks realize that oil is a world wide traded commodity they will learn a thing or 2. A company, be it any company, is in business to make profits. Why they hell are ya'll griping when they are making money? It's called free enterprise. Why was no one griping when the oil companies were going broke and they had to wait in line to buy gas? I swear, you people live in a bubble. Again, WORLD WIDE TRADED commodity. Look up OPEC while you are at it.

I'm GLAD the oil companies are making all this money! record profits mean rising stock prices and dividend payments. It's nice to have an investment where the consumers's are over a barrel. You don't wanna walk do you? I'm loving my big checks from oil investments! They make big money because they control the supply and there is no alternative. Thank you to OPEC for manipulating the supply so that I can keep earning my big buck$$$

Printing money out of thin air to fund endless borrowing and government spending has its consequences.

Hey David, quit looking for someone else, like the gubmit, to take care of you and take care of yourself. Educate yourself and get a better job. The folks you working for now, are they rich or poor? Have you ever made a good wage working for a poor man?

Higher fuel prices are basically like a TAX INCREASE on everything.
Posted by: Cedric C | January 21, 2011 at 12:51 PM
I believe the question is whether or not I'm going to change my driving habits because of increasing gas prices. I'm not ready to do so at this time but I try to consolidate my trips anyway. If the price continues to increase then I'll consider it. I agree that gas prices are artificially manipulated and have no relationship to supply and demand. Personally, I don't think they'll go much higher.

I'm getting a Nissan Leaf Electric car in April to replace 1 of our gas guzzlers. We are going to have 1 gas car, and 1 electric. Most of our gas $ goes to driving around town. The Leaf goes 90 miles before you have to re-charge it, and it costs about $3 to charge it up. So at $3/gallon that likes getting 90 mpg. That's how I'm changing my driving habits. Going EV.
Posted by: Kenneth | January 21, 2011 at 01:45 PM
Say K - When ................... you get that EV and Nissan reports they are way behind w/ production delays , let us all know how well the A/C works and how much shorter the charge lasts - Rude awakening for 33Gs. OBTW , don't expect a special lane for pokie , my rig will eat your batteries for breakfast :) What moron in the Obama Admin gave you the charging cost ? Don't forget the Federal Energy Inspectors who will have to approve your charging circuit : )
Posted by: Reddy Kilowatt loves EVs | January 21, 2011 at 02:04 PM
The EV idea is a great idea, but "Reddy" is right, Nissan is waaaay behind in production and there is a loooong waiting list. The car goes over 90MPH & has 100% torque so "pokie" would not be the case. In fact it will likely outrun any rig. Reports are postive from those that have already received those cars. The Chevy Volt looks good too.

The Question is are you changing your driving habits because of the price of fuel? YES!
