Should marriage only exist between a man and a woman? That's what's at the heart of the "Defense of Marriage Act." "The Defense of Marriage Act" basically bans recognition of same sex marriage, and aims to keep intact the traditional concept of marriage... that is between a man and a woman. But the White House announced on Wednesday that it will no longer defend the constitutionality of the federal law. In a statement released Wednesday, Attorney General Eric Holder said the legal landscape has changed since the act was passed 15 years ago. Holder's statement mentions the Supreme Court's ruling striking down criminal laws against homosexuality and the repeal of the military's "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy. Also adding to the White House's new stance is the fact that several lower courts have found the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional. What's your view on all of this? Should the White House stand by the "Defense of Marriage Act?" Or do you agree with those who think the time has come to accept same sex marriage?
This administration will do what it wants. It ignores all court orders and rulings that it does not like. With all the uprising in the mid east, I wouldn't be surprised if Obongo joined the rest of the dems hiding in Illinoise!!

It appears to me that a man and a woman were pretty well designed to be together by God and relations between two females works pretty well as friends. The marriage act is more in line with Christian views in my opinion.

For Da Gardner. The reason the price at the pump rose 13 cents for the same gas that was in the tank is to be able to pay for the next load of gas. Let's say the gas station paid 3 dollars a gallon to fill their tanks. By the time they need to refill their tanks the gas cost 4 dollars a gallon. If they didn't raise the price of gas they would be taking a loss.
Note, this is just a simple examle but you should get the picture.

He's no judge of relationships, and should stay out of the squabble. Look what it got him hooked up with.

Confederate " Rebel " Narcisse,
you really need to crawl back in that Cave in Colorada, blow up the opening and learn to spell. No one really cares what you have to say anyway .
The Constitution says "All men are created equal" so far the supreme has upheld that premise.

I believe that marriage is between one man and one woman. If the courts want to legalize other unions then it should not be called a marriage. To do so denigrates the term. Holder's assertion that the "legal landscape has changed" is a wimpy reply that dodges the issue. The moral landscape for most of us has not changed and that was the basis for the original marriage concept.

The best thing I can say is "read the scriptures". Unfortunately our leaders either do not or don't care what they say. In God we trust???

Its well over due. Marriages seem to fail anyway. In a couple of years - the only people who'll love marriages are the attorneys.

Can anyone tell me where the bible says 'one man and one woman will be joined together in matrimony'...?
Marrige is an invention of man. Away to charge a fee for something done for thousands of years for free....and another for lawyers to get involved at the dissolution.
David, of the bible, and others, had hundreds of wives.... "One man and one woman" wasn't working out very well back then...not to mention the 700+ concubines.

C'mon guys....attorneys aren't getting enough compensation with handling divorces between just men and women! Afterall, what is the divorce rate nowadays, 50%? As an attorney, my pay will increase dramatically with the legal divorces of gay couples as well!! yayy!! Eat, drink, be gay, get married too!! Oh...and here's my card!

When enough people live for themselves with little concern for how their actions affect others, the resulting moral rot contaminates the entire nation.
Queers, the bible calls it sin. Sin reveals an unbreakable connection between our character, our conduct, and the consequences of our actions. These three are inseparable and woven by God into His created order. Sin tries to convince us that it carries no consequences, and that no one will discover it. It tries to make us forget all three are interconnected. When we neglect this relationship we mock God.There is already a Plague called AIDS. This not natural for men and men etc. Creatures in Nature do not do these things.

Smokey, I had to comment about your statement about AIDS. It isn't just for homosexuals, it also attacks heterosexuals and bisexuals. So if you are human, be safe and use a condom.
And secondly for those who are from an organized religion - you can have your own beliefs as well. Cutting out the middleman (clergy) will not defer you going to a make believe place in the molten rock regions of Earth. But I haven't any reservations for those who believe in God, heaven or hell. Hell, some of my best friends are god fearing folks. What I don't like is someone to preach at me while they are doing their own sins as well. And if you are human - you sin. I don't care if you're the Pope, you've sinned.
Personally, I'm agnostic. A broader perspective on an afterlife will not make me a immoral person. I live mostly by the Golden Rule, it has served me well for over 50 years.

Pesky spelling thing right :) So are you a Hommie ?

If marriage is so sacred, let's all work together on that divorce ban! C'mon people, it isn't homosexuals attacking traditional values. Since the divorce rate is over 50% now, let's give everyone a chance to make it work.

By directing the attorney general to ignore and refuse to prosecute violations of an existing law Omaba has crossed the constitutional line. Determination of the validity of an existing law is the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court not Obama and his cronies. Congress should consider his behavior and failures and start the process for IMPEACHMENT and get rid of the idiot.
