Most of you have heard the news by now that Lake Charles came out the winner of that 15th and final riverboat license. The State Gaming Control Board awarded the license to Dan Lee's Creative Casino... which gives him the go-ahead to build the 400 million dollar Mojito Pointe project. But before the games can begin, or construction for that matter, Calcasieu voters will have their say at the voting booth. State law requires that voters approve the location for any new riverboat casinos. That parish wide vote is now set for April 30th. How will you vote and why?
Dan Lee was a great asset to the community and will do the same again yes I will vote for the casino

I vote yes for a resort location growing in Lake Charles, for 2000 new jobs, and for the huge infrastructure that will be created by this facility. I don't like the idea of all this being created because it is a gaming facility I hope Dan Lee does the great job on this new facility that he did for our existing facility. I just wish it was more child friendly, however this is not one of those places.

I will be voting yes, unless you work for one of the existing casino's I don't see how anyone can be against this. If you don't like gambling just don't go in there.

Yes, to vote no would be voting against progress. I have seen Lake Charles stagnate for too many years. As previously said "if you don't like gambling then don't go there". Or do go there & enjoy all the other activities they may have to offer, I personally do not gamble but have spent my share (and enjoyed doing it) at concerts, restaurants, etc. So the family friendly idea would be fantastic! Dan Lee is a huge asset to this community and it will be exciting to see all the different Lake Charles projects come together!

Dan Lee is a major asset to this community, look what he did with L'auberge du Lac, what he wanted to do with Sugercane Bay, and what he will do with Mojito Pointe. Having L'auberge and Mojito next to one another will definitely drive more people to the Lake Area and that means more opportunity for all of us. I will for sure be voting YES on April 30th!

I'm voting yes!
I don't like to gamble, so I just don't gamble.
I have been to LDL many times and enjoy having the restaurants there. It is also good to have the hundreds of jobs they provide in our area, and especially the tens of thousands of people from out of town and out of state they draw to our city every year.

I'll only vote yes if they promise to bring back 8 track tapes!

I talked to Dan and he reassured me that if I lose my free government housing he would hook me up with a permanent room at the Mojito, he also said I could get comped money for gambling, and eat at the buffet for free with a guest, so I will not have to spend my food stamps there or sell them for money to gamble. I love LC.
I am going to be one of the hardest working Mayors you ever have elected.

Dan knocked it out of the park with this one. This facility is going to complement L'auberge just as Sugarcane Bay was intended. BIG WIN for the area!
Posted by: American Gaming Guru | February 18, 2011 at 07:58 PM
The Shreveport/Bosier are has at 6 casino's in that area and largely targets Dallas as it main client base. The initial argument not to build Sugarcane Bay was that there was not enough money to be made. There are currently 2 casino's in Lake Charles. L'auberge currently draws the most market shares (Great Job, Mr. Lee). By all means, vote YES! Mr. Lee's attention to detail are second to none, both for the front of house and back of house operations. Now that "Harrah's" has taken over Pinnacle and watered down all aspects of their operations, it's well past time for something Better in LC. Big Tony needs to be shown that you can't come in and bully a community and your employees. Kick him square in the Pants, Dan!

Right on every level, Bob. The Houston market is HUGE and there is no sign of it slowing. We've got the the United States' 4th largest city less than 3 hours away and this is where they come to gamble. Texas is way too conservative to legalize gambling anytime soon, so let's give them a place to come have fun until they eventually do (if ever).
Dan Lee: Your former employees who are no longer with Pinnacle are beyond excited to have you back. We're ready to come work for you!

Gaming and/or gambling is defined as placing something of value, like money, on any event whose outcome is unknown or uncertain.
Every business venture is a gamble. It has risk.
Gambling is at the heart of the 'entrepreneural' spirit.... the basis of all business decisions.... since the outcome is unknown and involves risks.
New businesses are good....and the associated risks are good.
If one does not want to gamble by starting a business, then, by all means, don't do it.
If one does not want to gamble in a casino, then, by all means, don't do it.
It ain't that difficult to figure out.
However, the people that do not like casino gambling may not want others to start businesses either....since the outcome is uncertain. It involves gambling.
Of course, they may buy lotto tickets....when nobody is looking.
