With news of another reactor explosion and more radiation beginning to leak out from unit number four, Japan's nuclear crisis escalated dramatically Tuesday. Another fire from the reactor caused the Japanese government to warn 140 thousand people to seal themselves inside their homes. And an estimated 70 thousand people have been evacuated from a 12 mile area around the nuclear plant. Experts fear it could get even worse on a global front. David Albright, President of the ISIS nuclear research group said, "It's an international problem. There is going to be radiation crossing over Japanese borders into other countries. We think it's low levels now, but we don't know what it's going to be tomorrow." With that in mind, are you concerned about the global impact this nuclear crisis could have on the rest of the world?
NO I think I will look good with a nice warm glow

I am more worried about IRAN and their Development of Atomic Power and their WACKO's and their PLANS are for US.This country has NO good in mind. Yes, Build more GAS, OIL, and Coal fired Power Plants, Leave NuKes alone, Especially on Quake Faults, what Kind of Logic is this?

Yeah, let the Islamo-whackos pop ONE nuclear weapon somewhere and it'll make the radiation from one of these leaks look like spitting in the ocean. But we all KNOW that Obammy an' Hillary got Iran under control. And North Korea. And Pakistan.
That makes me feel so safe...

Build more nuclear plants as soon as possible, just don't do it on top of a fault line, and use the newest technology, and drill more wells for gas and oil NOW, and mine for coal and use clean coal technology. We must do all these things if we are to survive the next many years while we evolve the other technologies that are not oil based. These methods are not now capable of actually carrying the load of energy demand for the world. There are fewer deaths in the nuclear power generation area than any other energy sources listed, however it gets the most attention because of nuclear fears from history and the "unknown" potential. I believe the risk for disaster in nuclear power is much lower than keeping obama in office and doing NOTHING but watch our country go to the toilet due to lack of energy. The crisis is in Washington. Congress better wake up!!!

What Global Crisis - How many people died @ 3 Mile Island vs How many people die of misdiagnosis at America's Hospitals EVERY Year ( Answer ) 3 Mile Island 0 , Every year Hospital FUs 87,000. So more people die by mistake ( Negligent Homicide ) in Hospitals each year than died in the Viet Nam War. More than DWI deaths , more than lightning , drowning , tornadoes , hurricanes. Sounds like it is more dangerous living next to a HOSPITAL the a Nuke. I believe the Media should concentrate on reality than GOOFY SCIENCE - Al Gore , your Nobel Skirt is showing.
OBTW - You need several hours of instruction to read a Geiger Counter - a Dosimeter is better , it turns colors - Unlike Jane Fondas - Hollywood Nuke fantasies

(wacko) Charly your a moron . What in the hell can you do about? Go hide under a lead blanket for ten years. Then that will kill you. What happens happens and there isnt a damn thing we can do about it. So why is this a topic? Also all of you who think we are getting the real story on how much is really leaking probably believes Obama care will save us money.

learn from this:
Japan gets hit with quake and a tsunami. OMG, THEY DIDN'T ACT LIKE ANIMALS. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THOSE PEOPLE.
I'm shocked that KPLC didn't compare this to katrina like all the other news.
STOP WITH THE COMPARE.. they don't compare. People in new orleans had days to get out and knew the risk of staying. Then they all acted like a bunch of wild animals that needed to get laid before they died by rape of little girls and women, they had to LOOT because they needed that tv or clothes, and if i wish of any place to drown in the gulf, it would have to be new orleans.
Learn something people...you don't have to act like ANIMALS to live.
and please o please...just because they keep showing the big ferris wheel in Japan and how it stayed in tact, don't go buy one. people here are not that smart as some in Japan.
the world isn't coming to a end either., and news need to stop trying to make everyone PANIC over this.
we have been watching this due to my sister's in-laws who live in Japan...Thank God she doesn't teach there anymore.
We pray for the families and everyone there.

The U.S. used to set off nuclear bombs all the time right here in our own deserts in New Mexico. Never heard of a pile of people dying all over the world from that.

NOT AFFRAID : God bless you...you are so,so right....... people here have no shame!!

I agree with Jock. There's something mysterious about radiation and it conjurs up all kinds of fears that are, for the most part, groundless. Japan has the technology and the ability to handle this crisis and I'm confident that they will do it to the best of their ability. I'm glad the United States and other countries are lending a helping hand but I don't think Japan needs anyone to "solve the problem" for them. Don't pay any attention to the fear mongering being spread by the various media sites. Life here won't be affected by radiation so just go about your business and pray for our fellow man in Japan.

Gaman = moral fortitude.
some americans should take example on japanese and the way they are coping with disaster.....
Posted by: Swamp Charly | March 16, 2011 at 12:45 PM
Not worried at all. The Japanese are so far more sophisticated and more calm and classy than the thugs were during the Katrina disaster. They know what they are doing and they don't need all the analysts on TV trying to analyze and scare people when they don't know any more than we know. The Japanese people need help but they are not going to ask for a handout or start looting like they did in Louisiana, so all the world could see how some people act like animals when a catastrophe strikes. No Fema, food stamps, Japan is a nation of CLASS. It's a shame we all can't learn from them.

It is amazing how the Japanese how handle the pressure and all the strife they have been dealt in the last few days, a true example of what "peaceful" mankind should be. We can all take a lesson from them.
But I will have to admit, when they wear those mask over their faces they all look the same to me.......

May I suggest reading Ann Coulters weekly article on the horrors of radiation. If you are not reading Iowahawk it is your own personal loss.
