Could be. Or it could be natural seepage that has been coming from the Gulf since way before those eeeevil oil companies forced us to abandon our rustic lifestyles and forty-year life expectancies.

Wait'll you get hit in the head with a windmill.

DA GARDNER FOR MAYOR

I do not see the problem. They say we are dependent on foreign oil, and they will not let us drill. So it floats into the coast for us, just go out scoop it up and refine it problem solver all the way around. I expect to see lower gas prices by this weekend.

Frustrated Tax Payer

Are the companies that drill offshore required by anyone to evaluate, check, test or do anything to make sure active and capped underwater wells are not leaking and if they do check them how often do they check them? If there is a new leak somewhere is anyone going to own up too it?

EYE vote KNOW

Calling " Chicken Little " !!!!!!!

Wait a minute , how many mosquito larvae have died from it so far ? It may be a good thing.

ALLEN

WOW DO YOU THINK THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH LOUISIANA ARE SO DUMB THAT THEY CAN'T SEE THAT THIS IS COMING FROM THE B.P. DISASTER.IF IT WALKS LIKE A DUCK, QUACKS LIKE A DUCK IT MUST BE A DUCK !!!!!

Swamp Charly

CASE CLOSED...KPLC IS A FEAR-MONGER and Allen should check his facts.....

Anglo-Suisse Offshore Partners has reported 3 related incidents to the US Coast Guard.
Small leak is now plugged.

To blame is the reporting system based on an "honor code", often flouted due to the heavy fines it brings on.

ALLEN

HEY SWAMP CHARLY, YOU MUST BE AN OIL MAN ,WALKS,QUACKS LIKE A DUCK !!!!

Bonnie

The oil doesn't scare me near as much as the corexit they sprayed day after day, week after week, month after month, that only sent the oil to the bottom and is highly toxic. I'm sure BP is still leaking but no one will do anything about it, BP let the government know quite quickly who was in charge, they were.

td

Does anyone even use their brains anymore anywhere? In the 1940's industries just dumped chemicals on the ground and in the water. I helped clean up an oil spill on the island north of the 210 bridge in the late eighties. The work was not easy but I never thought of sueing my employer for some imaginary illness. I have literally bathed in crude oil and diesel fuel and am still just as crazy as ever.

Swamp Charly

Allen , you are so smart...you should run for Mayor!

opec-sucks

Oil companies spill all the time and don't give a rats rear about anything but profits. To make matters worse, they have a couple of boneheads to show up on blogs and defend their greedy acts.

Swamp Charly

...and boneheads keep driving and using that "barbaric fossile fuel"....

opec-sucks

FOSSIL not fossile ... LOL!

DA GARDNER FOR MAYOR

Swamp Charlie--- What gives man..I thought we had an understanding, I run for mayor and you take care of the swamps, you do not hear me telling other people to take care of the swamps, why would you suggest to others to run for mayor??
Natural Gas my friends....or Bicycles....

Swamp Charly

Sorry...we oilmen are uneducated and cant write properly...and you right , I'll keep to my swamps while da gardner runs the city...according to the folks at Coastal Preservation...city&swamps may soon be the same...blame the oilmen...plenty of those on shell Beach drive....

Mike

All this off-topic rhetoric leaves me confused!! I think the question is whether the oil now appearing on the beach at Grand Isle is from the BP spill and whether the clean up was sufficient. It's entirely possible, although not provable, that the oil is from BP. Common sense would suggest that it is so. As for the sufficiency of the cleanup. I think it was sufficient. I also think mistakes were made in the rush to handle the spill. Armchair quarterbacks are always going to second-guess the decisions made but nobody had any better ideas at the time. In the long run, Mother Nature will clean up the mess with biologic critters that will consume the oil. If you don't believe me, look at the thousands of ships sunk in World War II. Nobody cleaned up any of that mess but today you cannot find any evidence of pollution from those wrecks. Have patience, my friend, and let nature take it's course. In the meantime, quit yur bitchin' and go do something constructive.

td

Greedy oil companies Spill oil Profit ? Thats a lot of skittles you been eatin dude.

DA GARDNER FOR MAYOR

Swamp Charlie-Oilmen can not be to uneducated if they live on shell beach drive. my pappy got to go into old Mrs Grays house once of course he was serving food at a party...

Oil's Well that Ends Well

Would any of you Enviro-Geniuses care to tell me the death toll from Leaded gasoline , DDT , MBTE , High Sulphur Diesel, Oil Slicks , Gas Slicks , Anti-Mosquito Diesel Spray , petroleum based insecticides and pesticides , pharmaceuticals , cancer drugs , heart medicine , fertilizers , pheww !
Please compare that number to deaths from Gross Obesity related Heart Disease and associated gross physical ailments , tell me which is greater by 100,000% , we'll see what comic books you are reading

Swamp Charly
