Congressional seats aren't the only ones being affected by redistricting. Last night, Calcasieu Police Jurors got the chance to see what redistricting will mean for them. The ideal population number of people in each of the 15 single member districts is 12,851 people. Parish Administrator Bryan Beam says as required by law, the plan preserves minority voting strength in the four minority districts. And he says it maintains the core area of the police jury districts, meaning no district incumbents will run against each other. Cade Cole, the specialist the police jury hired to map out the new lines, says changes have been kept to a minimum. Now is the time for citizens who want to comment on the redistricting plan to get involved. A public hearing on the new district maps will be held at 5:30 March 29th. Do you have any comments or concerns about redistricting for Calcasieu police jurors?
I thought " OUR " System was based on one man or woman , one vote - not 2 or 3 or 4 if your color is right. I believe this policy to be discriminatory and unconstitutional .Politicians pandering to minorities for self gain is dishonest and disgraceful , we need to repeal " The Reconstruction Act of 1867 " Drawing lines on a map to guarantee an election is CHEATING , but I guess cheating is now the NORM

I agree with Meinhau. "Preserving" any voting strength, whether minority or otherwise is clearly racial discrimination. I have never supported racial discrimination and will not do so now. Black people have had generations to make their way in American society and many have done a spectacular job and gained the respect they deserve. It's time to end all this affirmative action stuff and let everyone compete on an equal footing. Some will succeed and some will not. That's life. Success should not be mandated by law. Guaranteeing black voting blocks are a form of mandating success.

United we stand. Divided we fall.

Wait a minute...We have 4 minority districts? I didn't know there was that many white people around herre to actually fill 4 districts.

It is politically correct nowadays to hand the reigns of power to the black community and to foot the bill for any and all of their demands. When this country finally implodes financially and politically they will once again blame whitey. What kind of world will our children and grandchildren live in? It is sad to contemplate .Listen close and you will hear the sound of a fiddle playing while "rome" falls apart.

Every race lives everywhere in this parish.
What happened to Color Blind, People, are People.............
That is all that should be involved in the count. Get some Jurors with Common Sense to run the Parish

When will we start setting up districts for other minorities. Blacks act like they are the only ones intitled to that word "minorities" What about Indians,Hispanics,Asians etc.See where this could end up. This country need to go back to being correct instead of polittically correct. the ruination of this country.Did anyone watch the Sossel piece on dateline last night ?????

ALLEN Go read DR THOMAS SOWELL and put some decent information in your brain. I had no choice in which color I was born. I am sick of people blaming poor people for situations that were created by politicians.
Posted by: td | March 27, 2011 at 01:13 PM
I hear that they are considering re-districting by color :
Blue , White ,Red ....wait! aint that the American flag colors ?
This is the ONLY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD WHICH OPENLY PRACTISE APARTHEID (SEGREGATION)when it comes to re-districting !!!!!!!!
Shame,shame,shame !!!!!!!

Posted by: td | March 27, 2011 at 01:43 PM
vote against all incumbents, then they have to steal fast and can get caught easier.
Posted by: throw them all out | March 27, 2011 at 08:21 PM
I see good reason to vote out all the incumbents. I do not see any reason to vote new ones in.
