There's a campaign on the horizon to make Good Friday a National Holiday in the United States. The group will officially launch its national campaign on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. with the movie screening of "Passion of the Christ" and the collection of one million signatures. Do you agree or disagree with commemorating Good Friday as a national holiday?
OMG...can you please come up with a better topic..
maybe why they have not filed paperwork on the so called arson fire, or WHY IN THE HELL THEY ARE GOING TO PUT HUD ON THE LAKE FRONT....
GOD,PLEASE TAKE THE IDIOTS OF THIS TOWN

Yes, Good Friday should be a national holiday. It has a lot more significance than many of our other "holidays"

See that snowball bouncing down the main street of h**l? That's the chance that a Christian holiday has of becoming a national holiday.
Leave it like it is. Many companies give their employees a day off, and others like me that have a job TAKE a day off.
Making it a Federal mandate just waters it down to a pale shadow of reality, like "Fourth of July" when most people don't know the meaning of "independence" or "Memorial Day" when there's darned little "memory" going on besides a few grey-headed old men who left buddies strewn on battlefields around the globe.

Yes I think Good Friday should be a national holiday because everyone has to take vacation to get that day off

Who cares if it's a national holiday anyway. So is MLK Day and a dozen others, and most of us who aren't sucking off the government teat just keep on working to pay those who get paid to take THOSE days off.
Private companies have to make a profit. People actually have to work, not just show up and look surly behind the counter of a government office.

Our country is broke , Federal Employees are too numerous and overpaid , doing little or nothing anyway, A National Holiday costs many Millions " Leave It Alone " this FRIDAY is also " Al Gore Day "

Why not: What harm will it do?
I thought this was the U S of America; a country which represents FREEDOM. My understanding, by the Constitution, we have a right to worship as we see fit.
Give every faith a National Holiday: That way we get more days off.

SERIOUSLY?!
Yes, I agree with it. Was this question asked at Christmas? I'd bet even atheists agree to have Good Friday and Christmas Day off of work. It's not necessarily celebrated as a religious holiday, but it's one of three times a year that families travel to be together, so yes, I agree wholeheartedly with it being a national holiday.

I'm a Christian but it's important we Learn the facts... Easter began as a pagan holiday. As with Christmas, over the centuries various folk customs and pagan traditions, including Easter eggs, bunnies, baskets and candy, have become a standard part of this holy holiday.

Definitely keep it a holiday. It is one of the most sacred days of the year.
Posted by: da | April 21, 2011 at 11:17 AM
yes call it Spring holiday, just like we have Fall holiday in November and winter holiday in December.

Let's don't give Federal workers another holiday.
They sleep at work. So every day is a holiday anyway.

Is this a joke, KPLC? "Yes, Let us create some bogus question to keep the topic of Judge Ware! Let's try to create more Christian Right vs. The Rest of the World that we just can't seem to get enough of!"
Posted by: Colleen | April 21, 2011 at 05:11 PM
Yes, it should be a national holiday and so KPLCTV should give the HOT TOPIC a holiday too.
All in favor of getting rid of the HOT TOPIC
please write in.

Let's give the tax assessor's office another holiday. They are all so polite over there.
Posted by: citizensforfairtaxation | April 21, 2011 at 07:27 PM
They probably dread the "millionaire" Mount taking over the tax office. The lady running it now seems to be the one that deserves the job but money talks in politics. Mount needs to retire and let the regular hard working folks have the jobs.
Posted by: Bubba | April 21, 2011 at 08:52 PM
bubba, you don't think being a state senator is a "hard working" job? I bet you couldn't do it. The real question should be: Why is Dana Jackson and Stuart Weatherford so against the Cypress deal and for the deal with the guy being sued for fraud and other bad business dealings. Maybe that should be a "Hot Topic". it would only require one question: Why are you against it?
Posted by: Doesn't take People for Granted | April 22, 2011 at 12:06 AM
Maybe if our news outlets invested in actually performing investigative journalism our "hot topic" wouldn't be such a joke. So, with that being said, I challenge KPLC and The American Press to dive in and find out why these two councilmen are trying to kill development on our lake front. Didn't they vote FOR the development?
Posted by: Doesn't take People for Granted | April 22, 2011 at 12:15 AM
Why only national???
Does not the Bible say "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Is not "whosoever" all inclusive of the world....and not limited to only the USA?????
