The target is $4 trillion in deficit reductions over a dozen years. President Barack Obama is proposing cuts in the growth of Medicare spending, cuts in defense, and an end to some tax loopholes -- along with an end to tax cuts for wealthier Americans. His speech today put the blame for the nation's rising debt on the spending increases and tax cuts enacted during the presidency of George W. Bush.
Republicans say the cuts are not deep enough and that raising taxes will hurt the economy and cost jobs. What's your opinion on the plan?
Mr. President the blame game needs to end. If you continue that one day when you look around all you will see is a Independent Congress around you and of course Joe fast asleep. My pipe dream is not Republicans or Democrats just Americans wanting to get our Country back on it's own feet. God Bless!

The idiot has over-stayed his welcome. As soon as I see that Michelle is no longer buying $600 shoes and bringing an entourage of 100+ staffers on her vacations, then MAYBE ....nah...i wouldn't even listen to anything he has to say then. If Libya wants a new muslim leader so badly, send 'em ours.

Obama's job is to fix the nation's economy and provide leadership for congress to act in a responsible manner, not to blame Bush administration or anyone else. The facts are pretty obvious that Obama is a tax and spend president. It took a long time to get into this terrible mess, but blaming someone is not going to get us out. We need responsible leadership and we are not getting it. We need a good businessman in office doing the work of managing our country's business, and not a political campaign to win 2012. Stop spending more than we have coming in, reduce waste and taxes and put a little integrity back in our government. We need to do it NOW. Jobs will come if we do.

I never thought I would say this, being an advocate of living off the government, but this the great obama has gone to far, he's been in office for 2 years now. He could have changed things from Bush by now. His incompetence is showing more and more each day.
Heck, whats next from our president PALM TREES around reflection lake to attract the tourist.

Once again, he talked a lot and said nothing. Another campaign speech. Typical liberal scare tactics, Ryan's plan will have old folks dying in the streets. My plan is much better, raise taxes and cut defense spending. But by God, I will continue to take from the haves and give to the have nots as long as they vote for me!!

I blame Planned Parenthood for our budget woes.
Forget that Wall Street has been raping the middle class for the last 20 years, that Bush tax cuts have destroyed our tax base, or that three wars and the continued funneling of money into them have nearly bankrupted us.
Nope. Planned Parenthood is doing too many pap smears.

You mean, planned parenthood is doing too many abortions. And using my tax dollars to do it. Forcing me to fund abortions should be a felony in of itself!

I personally think Obama's deficit cut plan is the best avenue for getting this country back on it's feet.

All this Obama bashing and right now the front- runner for the GOP presidential nominee is Trump. Yep, Mr limelight himself....Mr. womanizer, i own casinos, i filed backruptcy numerous times..I thought Repubs were the party of "family values" and against gaming/casinos..Maybe Mitt Romney will take he lead...aww nevermind his healthcare bill is very similar to Obamas...

I completely agree with "the cuts are not deep enough and that raising taxes will hurt the economy and cost jobs." Keep taxing the wealthy - those who my husband and I work for - and we, the lowly low middle class, will suffer for it. Keep taxing them, and those increased taxes will continue to trickle down to the working class. When our employers' personal and business taxes are increased, they freeze raises and bonuses and occasionally "restructure" which apparently is a nice way of saying "layoffs." His speech blaming Bush sounded nothing more to me than a continuation of his prior campaign for the presidency. Don't fall for any more rhetoric! GET HIM OUT!

REALLY? Throwing the blame around AGAIN? How many years has our current president had to fix our nation's problems? Yet we're STILL in the whole, and he just wants to keep digging it deeper. That's really how he justifies his continued digging - by blaming Bush? He's definitely not making enough cuts. We work hard, we have never applied for any type of government assistance, and we continue to pay our bills on our own as well as the rising prices of gas and groceries and insurance despite the lack of raises going around in the current economy. At this rate, our kids will be way worse off than we are because we can't manage to save up for college. Let the government tighten its belt the way we keep having to. I honestly don't know how we're still making it with increasing bills and decreasing income, but if we can do it, there's no reason the USA can't!

I agree that we must not only cut spending and raise taxes, but what exactly are we going to cut? Cutting funding to Planned Parenthood or NPR or other controversial organizations would represent only a very small fraction of what we need to cut. Go ahead and cut funding to them - we'll still be in the same boat! Look around. There's NO ONE in this country that can solve our problems and if we keep playing the blame game we're only going to get worse. We need to accept that we are in trouble and haven't had a way to fix our own problems for years.

It always trickles down to the back bone of America. the working class middle class. When Gov. Talks raising taxes of the rich here is an example. Wal-mart is rich. Raise their taxes and they raise the price of banana's. Thier profit is not going to change. Who is he fooling? Campaigning is all He is doing. Why would he raise the taxes of the rich? They are the people who funnell millions into his coffures for relection. I am not bashing him. He is just a groomed party spokesman. how much more taxes do you think the rich ar going to pay? Think $10,000.00 more a year would be a good guess. Not!!!!Nope they will add it to the services they provide and we will pay it for him? Politics. When we eliminate the middle working man, when their is no more middle class, good by America. It is getting harder and harder to educate our children. soon the rich will be the only intellectuals. Then we will have old fashined Tyranny. A King again if you will. We fault a revolution one time to be free from all this political garbage. Are you ready to fight another.

Until they lower gas prices to an affordable level for the working person to be able to afford to go to work, and the companies can afford to pass on the cost savings to the consumer, this country will not begin to climb out of the hole we are in..
But our politicians do not pay for gas they have staff cars that drive them around WE pay for their gas...
Riddle me this Batman.. When BP was spilling millions of gallons of oil in the gulf, gas prices were at there lowest in years. HUM that does not seem right does it? But now Libya is at war (they only produce 2% a YEAR) and gas is thru the roof. Somebody please explain this to me....

What Vitter says: "What the president has failed to realize is that the problem isn't that our taxes are too low – it's that the current spending habits in Washington have created a recipe for disaster. The answer is not increasing taxes or perpetrating ugly class warfare, but to make bold spending cuts so we don't leave this fiscal mess for our children and grandchildren. Increasing taxes during this economy would seriously hurt America's job creators." Unlike what I heard last night, THIS makes sense to me.

Cut Nasa
Cut Amtrack
Cut Postal Service
Abolish Dept of Education and allow the states to educate like it's suppose to be
Overhaul Medicare and Medicaid
Cut Social Security and stop it taking it out of my check
Abolish homeland security
I could go on and on regarding wasteful government agencies that are not needed. Let the states govern themselves as was intended per the constitution.

HIT THE ROAD JACK AND DON'T YOU COME BACK NO MORE NO MORE NO MORE NO MORE. HIT THE ROAD JACK AND DON'T YOU COME BACK NO MORE.
