The Special Session of the legislature just wrapped up with the redrawing of congressional district lines. But the upcoming regular session which convenes in about a week, is sure to have its own fireworks. Especially because of a proposal that may ignite controversy over separation of church and state. A Shreveport senator is planning a bill that would have a Ten Commandments monument placed at the State Capitol. The bill would require the governor's commissioner of administration to arrange for the monument... but it doesn't stipulate who will pay for it. Similar monuments have drawn legal challenges around the country. We'll see what happens with this one once the session gets underway. What do you think about the idea of a Ten Commandments monument at the State Capitol?
Posting words against lying, cheating and stealing creates a hostile work environment for government.

Congratulations to the Shreveport state senator for attempting to bring a little attention to our Creator back to our government facilities. Our forefathers knew very well that Faith in God and prayer will keep our government and country headed in the right direction. We should take a close look at the time when the government published the bibles, provided prayer service facilities, and prayed at most functions. I know we will not go back to this era, but unless there is some change away from the godless generation we are currently staring in the face with our existing govt, we will just go downhill and become even more corrupt

And what happens when some devil worshipper demands that Satans prayer be posted right next to the commandments, or some Muslim demands that jihad be hung up there? Hey, what's good for the goose is good for the other water fowl

It sounds like this Shreveport Senator is trying to stir the pot for the sake of possible controversy while our state is facing a fiscal crisis. Perhaps if our State Senators were focused on pressing State issues, we wouldn't have to make such deep and desperate cuts to education.
This sounds like an issue that can wait.
The Ten Commandments, whether installed at the State Capitol or not, doesn't affect me. Cuts to education and Medicaid do. Deal with the stuff that really matters.

Perhaps, the politicians should take the ten commandments a little more seriously, so seriously that they have them tattooed onto each hand. This way when the extend their hand to shake yours just prior to screwing you, they might be reminded NOT to SCREW the tax payer.
Then we will see just how serious they are about the commandments...

Any rejection or objection of or to the words to The Ten Commandments is simply based on Fear of their ramifications - The Dishonest and Sinful are uneasy for they believe these Great Words have eyes and we know how many of them are truly guilty for we are all guilty. How many Fear the same in the Symbol of the Roman Tau - The reminder of personal crucification always disturbs the wicked. News Flash - The Great Father is always watching Big Brother - Barry Boy

I think it would be a good thing to have the ten commands at the capital. With all the problems facing the state why stir the pot with this issue.

Slippery slope to mixing religion&politics..

Might as well put pages from a Stephen King novel on the walls. Both are just as fictional.

I'm a Christian but I don't want the Ten Commandments sitting in the Capitol. They don't belong there among the liars and cheaters... what's the names for those? POLITICIANS. What a disgrace it would be to have the Ten Commandments up there as if our elected officials actually followed htem. The only reason this congressman is bringing this up is an attempt to earn the Evangelical vote. Don't applaud him or humor his ideas. They aren't genuine. If he had anyone's real interest in mind besides his own he'd be keeping his mouth shut on religion and doing his job in Baton Rouge.

Have the churches pay for something like that they have more money than anyone. I mean you have someone calling someone SOB for calling the ten commandant fictional. real Christian there. you may be in hell with DDP Allen. No cause if he is atheist he doesn’t be leave in that silly place. Who really lives by the "Ten Commandment " anyway? Believe in what you want and live your life how you want but don’t force it upon others. No need for the Ten Commandments having a monument if they do this then don’t complain about the mosque near 911 site.

I agree with Diamond Dallas Page.

"real Christian there"
Absolutely correct, Curly. They are all like that. They "love" everyone to their faces and then stab them in the back the first chance they get.
Also, what's up with those Water's Edge creeps? XTREME JESUS!! What stupidity!

The fact that we are talking about this proves to this Senator that he has successfully gotten his 15 minutes. But it also shows his lack of originality.
Has Shreveport no problems that this lime-light hungry idiot needs to be working on?
Separation of Church and State is not an option. If I were Jewish, I would be outraged that I'm paying this yo-yo while he's working on this. Matter of fact, I'm an outraged non-Jew over this.

Truth is, if you haven't gotten these etched in your heart by family and church, then seeing them on a sign isn't going to make much difference. After all, Obama regularly stands near an American flag...

Very slippery slope to religion....and by the way...how is it that the Christian Right is all of the sudden adopting a Jewish symbol....have the Jews asked for the 10 Commandments to be put on the Capitol????
What's next ??????
Posted by: Swamp Charly | April 15, 2011 at 02:35 PM
The idiots who think that anyone who is not a Christian is an atheist , are the same one who used to burn Jews on the stake as heretics....now they are prepared to take other religion's symbols and call them their own...
Do the idiots remember who adopted a peaceful Hindu symbol for Peace in the 30's and made it their own ???

I don't know, but on another topic would somebody please clean house of the neanderthals at the Calcasieu Parish Tax Assessor's office!! rude, arrogant, bitches working up there. Willie Mount, please clean house.
Posted by: concernedcitizen | April 16, 2011 at 12:48 AM
Even though this is hardly the place or topic for a comment like that, I couldn't agree more.
I had to go to the Assessor's office for a copy of something on file not long ago. They made me feel like I was coming in there to steal something. And God forbid one of them had to get out of a chair. The gum-popping just added to the unprofessional atmosphere.
I'm with you. I love me some Willie.

Willie is a politican who because of much needed term limits is looking for a new nest to feather.dont think for a minute any politican just wants to serve their constituents, its all about power and money.Cant vote for anyone who is running because they were forced out because of term limits.
