From Ground Zero to the White House, America continues to react to the death of Osama Bin Laden. What is your reaction to the news that the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks is now dead? And do you think his death will really make a difference in the terror threat around the world?

This is just another chapter closed in the long standing, and ongoing war on terror. It should suggest that we intensify this effort, but with cost, political differences in the war effort, we will probably continue to drag our feet and the war will go on for years. It appears that one terrorist compound may be up for sale . It is the one with a 20 foot wall around it. Can't miss it, and the price is right.

REMEMBER PEOPLE....his body was taken within 24 hrs of his death, and the other bodies were left behind...kinda strange huh.

UUUMMM just some thoughts on this or questions:
1. so they gave him a Muslim funeral, which means they had a muslim navy priest on the USS Carl Vinson, which has been over there for a while now,YET this was top secret mission.
2. they killed him with a head shot, yet all are trained to shot center of mass.
3. they did not need or want to interrogate him for any possible information after all he was number one you would think he might know something.
4. we have been watching this compound since sept. BUT they say info came from gitmo, HOWEVER no one has been admitted to gitmo since sept, so how could the prisoners in gitmo know about this place.
Smells like wag the dog to me.
Also can we now leave Afghanistan after all our mission there is done.

No pictures yet, no body and what perfect timing for Obama. The one student had it right when he said It's like Obama got on the elevator and pushed the button. When it gets to the second floor he takes credit for the people getting there. I dont believe our government and thier transparency one bit. If it is true good job military and good job politicians for staying out the way. This will not make us safer but it sure makes us feel better. Keep your eyes open with this president. He has you looking one way now . Exspect something coming through the back door.

Gardner, a couple answers to your questions...
1. There are no priests in the military, there are chaplains, which in many cases capable of ministering to many religions.
2. It's my understanding they pulled a Mozambique Drill on him (wiki it for the definition). A combination of body shot and head shot, making sure he wouldnt walk a way or flee..which brings me to #3..
3. Why chance an escape, bring him down. Why even chance (no matter how small a chance) him getting away? I'm sure they were able to gather plenty if information by scrubbing the compound.
4. Per all the news, the information gathered at Gitmo lead then to the name of the currier, who they tracked down first and who lead them to the compound. They were only recently able to place OBL at the compound.

If there is a place called purgatory. I hope Bin Laden has to meet and explain to each and everyone of his victims Muslim or Christian why he had them Murdered in cold blood. The last thing he will have to do is explain to his God why. Then he will join the others in the hell he made for himself.

I’m just saddened that they didn’t show his “burial at sea” to be using a pigskin for a shroud.
I’m thinking that right about now Obama’s attorney general, Eric Holder, is having to place apologetic phone calls to all his lawyer buddies who stood to make a fortune in government dollars had Osama been brought in alive. I say this because our government would have payed the bills for lawyers to defend this piece of human refuse, plus to serve him on the inevitable appeals, plus the millions taxpayers would have paid to give Obama the show trial he so desperately wanted.

I only hope that they mounted his body butt first onto a torpedo and sent him to his watery grave. It would have been nice to hang him from the statue of liberty and watch the sewer rat rot. Just too bad that Bush&Dick had their cross hairs on Sadam and let OBL run to the hills and caused many of our soldiers to lose their life so they could go invade Iraq.

While I would never wish death on any living soul, I do think Bin Laden's end was justified by his means -- or the way he lived his life and the misery he caused not only to American's on 9-11 by also his own people. This was a joint effort that was years in the making starting during the Bush presidency. Intelligence gathered over the last few years enabled this to happen. There were many ways that President Obama could have done this, but he is a pragmatic thinker and thus, was successful in ordering this operation. Kudos to him, his security advisors, the intelligence personnel who worked on this for many years and most of all the Navy Seals that risked their very lives to carry out the orders of their Commander in Chief and complete the mission. While terrorism is far from over, this has taken the wind out of their sails. Every little bit helps.

Since he was an ill man I assume his right hand man had been calling the shots for a while. Though there is some comfort in his death, I feel strongly that there is someone there already filling his shoes. With this in mind I don't think the USA should get too confident that immediate threat is over.
