Reynaud Middle School stays open for now... but its future remains uncertain. That as the Calcasieu School Board last night determined that it's out of the board's hands at this point to close the school. That's because of an agreement that was made with the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education several years ago to give Reynaud Middle School a chance to make improvements. The School Board is going back to BESE now with reasons why it wants to shut the school down. So right now, the ball is in BESE's court, as to what happens to Reynaud. The board voted 8 to 7 to submit a plan to BESE and The Recovery School District to close Reynaud Middle School. The board will also submit the plan to the federal court to get an opinion on the legalities of the move. What is your reaction to the Calcasieu School Board's decision to pass this on to BESE?
Either close the school or bus some of the students from that part of town who are currently being busses to SLC back to that school. It will relieve pressure from some of the SLC schools. While we are at it, lets look at the school at the old LCB-HS. Why not combine it with Reynaud and save money there? Lots of options but it always has to be a racial issue. It is a simple mathematics issue not a racial issue. Just like UNO merging with SUNO. Not a racial issue at all, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, but rather a mathematical issue. The same situation faces both scenarios -- not enough money to justify keeping both open.

if all who dont like the N. lake charles kids going to Barbe the alternative could be much worse, the courts could once again say that your little darlings should be bussed to n.Lake charles to be more intergrated. It could happen....Again!

Maybe a bit off subject but todays report about the fish kill is a fine example of our education system today. The fish were identified as shad. A five second search shows the facts that these are menhaden.
