Alright, here we go folks. It all comes down to two teams: UConn and Butler, one final game and 40 minutes remaining in the college basketball season.
There is no denying that Butler is hot right now. They might have been the Cinderella story last year, nearly stunning Duke in the National Championship. The Bulldogs come into tonight's game having been there before and they have veteran experience to back it up. For this team, I don't think there would be anything worse than losing in the Championship two years in a row. When you look at what head coach Brad Stevens has done with this program in just a short period of time, it's remarkable.
And then you have the Hall of Famer, Jim Calhoun-almost double the age of Stevens. The Final Four is no stranger to this team, the Huskies were here only two years ago when they fell to Michigan State. The NCAA allegations may have casted a grey cloud, but UConn bounced back on the court.
They were picked to finish 10th in the Big East in the beginning of the season, and then went on to win five games in five days to take the Big East Tournament Title. The Huskies too, are on a magical run, having won their last ten games. This is a blog, so I can be completely opinionated and even a little biased (they are my team afterall). Kemba has carried this group of young, talented guys on his back all year long. He has enough in the tank for one more. This is one the most talented UConn casts I've seen in a long time, and you can tell they have that spark, that extra fire that every winning team needs.
No one would have thought these two teams would be in the Championship Game, but here they are and the dogs are ready to put on a show. It's going to come down to the wire. Here we go!
