Tornado Watch Cancelled 5-14-2008 8 AM

The tornado watch that was in effect across the area has been cancelled by the National Weather Service.

The threat is over for now, but depending upon how our weather plays out this afternoon we may have another round of storms. If we are able to get some sunshine between now and this afternoon another line of strong to severe thunderstorms may possibly develop and move across the area. There is a lot of uncertainty as to if this will occur so stay tuned to KPLC and KPLCTV.COM for the latest information. If you have any storm damage pictures you can email them to us here in the 7stormcenter; my email address is whampton@kplctv.com.

Speaking of the earlier severe weather here are a couple of images I saved of the severe weather; the first is the wide view on 7 StormVision HD and the second is a close-up view of Lafayette parish at the time the possible tornado went through Scott. Click on the images to see a loop of them.

I also want to thank Meteorologist Kellie Hutchinson for coming in and helping with the severe weather coverage and also Meteorologist Andrew McLachlan for keeping the website and blog updated through the morning.

Again stay tuned for further updates as necessary…
