TORNADO WATCH in effect until 9pm, 10-29-09:
The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a TORNADO WATCH FOR BEAUREGARD & VERNON PARISHES UNTIL 9PM. A Tornado Watch is issued when conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in and around the watch box. The atmosphere is continuing to moisten as a low pressure system deepens to our northwest. A large difference in pressure is being created between a high pressure along the east coast and the high pressure behind the next advancing cold front attached to this deepening low. This is also creating a large difference in wind speed and direction with height. Any storms that do form could begin to rotate and produce tornadoes in and around the watch box.
If a storm impacts your area, after the storm passes please contact us at KPLC with damage reports. This may allow us to pass along life saving information to others as the storm continues to advance. Please send reports and photos to news@kplctv.com or log on to www.reportstorms.comand submit your information. You may also call the KPLC Newsroom at (337)437-7568. Stay tuned to KPLC-TV for the LATEST severe weather information.
