The National Weather Service in Lake Charles has issued a TORNADO WATCH UNTIL 1PM FOR THE FOLLOWING PARISHES: Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, & Vermilion. A Tornado Watch is issued when conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in or around the watch box. This means that strong storms are still possible outside the watch box. Here is the latest from the NWS on the WATCH:
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60 STATUTE
MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 35 MILES WEST OF LAFAYETTE
LOUISIANA TO 55 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF MOBILE ALABAMA. FOR A

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR
TORNADOES AND SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.
